Connect the jump leads and start the other car and leave it for a few minutes just ticking over, then try yours. Make sure all electrical stuff that you don't need is turned off. I found with mine that my rubbish little jump leads wouldn't work, then I connect a much bigger / thicker wire set...
So, following on from this thread:
http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?684306-Will-this-alternator-work-on-my-cup
i have now got a whistling noise coming from the alternator. Reading up on it on the net it sounds like it might be the bearing and nothing to worry about, expect it is...
Okay fitted it and measured the voltage across it and it is a 11.9* V no mater what load I put on it. It concerns me??
also as I drove off for the first time it whistled! And at just above idel to about 2.7k revs is continues to whistle until the sound is drained out by the engine.
All this...
No worries, thanks for looking tho. If I don't get any this week going to make some custom ones, based on the original clio parts. Might get some of the polybush material. My mate has a lath and bench drill so I will see what I can do!!
Not 100% which bit you mean but to remove the top mount you have to use an Allen key to stop the piston rod rotating and use a ring spanner to undo the top mount. If it is like the 172 the whole top mount should rotate.
I did mine the other day and it was a b**ch. Bent one Allen key so bad it...
how did you find that? I have been looking for ages. Going to order it now. Fit it on Friday afternoon. Then 2 1/2 years and the cup will roll again!!!!!
So I have been looking. Found this one, which I know says 12V as well but the part numbers line up with the ones on my alternator ( see picture)

Hi,
Please can someone tell me if this will work on my 172 Cup? I had ordered one but found out today Renault have no stock until end of march and the car is currently off the road.

If not if someone...
Not sure this will work but. Take it for a drive if you are confident the issue is fixed. Then park it up and disconnect the battery and leave it for a while. Maybe over night and then restart it. It works with some things.
If I am honest I am not sure. I'm not sure why it would crank faster if the valves were bent? It would still have to turn over and cycle the pistons so there would still be a fair amount of resistance.
As Danny said check the aux belt. That's any easy place to start. If the aux belt goes it...
Hi,
we will need a little more information on what you were doing when it happened, hard accel etc? If its cambelt it's potentially a lot of work or maybe an engine swap, depending on the damage done.
When was the belt last changed?
If the coilovers are adjustable, which I assume they are, you can change the rollcentres with the coilovers and make the rear feel more planted, which will give you a little more under steer, but it would probably make the car feel more stable. Plus if you soften the rear / stiffen the front...
I didn't say it won't fail as clearly his car has failed and this is one of the reasons. What I was trying to say is it is not an automatic fail. It is inherent in the design of dampers that they leak slightly.
Took this from the following link:

Just cos they are chav's doesn't mean they are poor either. Money doesn't buy taste, manners or anything like that. Also just because someone is a chav doesn't mean they don't look after their cars. There are some "chavs" around me with cars I can't afford who do the same as described in this...
Sounds like they want some money out of you. A leaking shock is not a fail so make sure they are really serious!!!! Also all the brake sound like they didnt know it was a cup. I think you should have passed buddy. Take it to a council run center. They can't fix anything so are more likely...
I contacted Koni UK. They said to contact their distributors.

so far of the ones that have got back to me none of them do them. Still haven't heard back from Demon Tweeks. Will probably call them again.
