Seems a bit strange to me.
My free insurance ran out in September 03 but Id fitted 17s myself in June.
I rang them up, and it was no problem - only had to pay £40 or so to update the policy.
There doesnt seem to be a clear cut answer as to what is covered under free insurance and warranty. It...
My years free insurance ran out yesterday...rang every insurer under the sun and the best quote was from Morethan - and I got my 1 years no claims too - for £735 (21, 1.2 Dynamique & big wheels)...Directline was cheaper at £635 but you have to be 25 to have any mods...
Rorrie - I swear I dont...
I got my Clio from Renault Manchester, simply because when I went in to see what deals they could do they beat any other Renault dealer by far.
Not had any problems with them, only been back once for a check up and they seem ok...
Any ideas on how strict/understanding Renault Manchester are...
Ive just had to renew my insurance - Renos quote wasnt bad but the best one was MoreThan...theyll cover any modification that doesnt increase top-speed or acceleration...so if all your looking to do at the mo is fit the alloys and lower it theyll cover you for no extra charge.
Mines got 17s on...
hehe, I know - that was always the plan - but hey if its free anyway...But I bought them from somewhere in Southend and I live in Manchester...so Ive fitted them myself anyway.
I also got my refund yesterday. The fella at Ripspeed appologised on behalf of Wolfrace, and he told me hed...
Davidol - I wasnt rude, but I made sure he knew I was annoyed at being led on for weeks. But whoever I was dealing with in Manchesters store always said hed get back to me but I was always the one who had to ring up to get the latest. I work in retail myself, and know all too well about...
Davidol - Now that Ive had a nights sleep I can appreciate that it wasnt totally Ripspeeds fault...The the fella at Rotchford Tyres laughed when I told him what had happened - he laughed because apparently Wolfraces UK base is in Southend or at least their warehouse is, anyway Rotchford (also...
Back in August I posted about wanting to fit 17s to my Clio...I thought Id got lucky when my local Ripspeed had a sale on - 20% off = Bargain!
I bought some 17" Ikon Plus in shadow chrome. They told me 3-4weeks delivery as Wolfrace didnt have any in stock...4 weeks go by and I gave them a ring...
Connor - Well I rang Renault Insurance first thing this morning.
I asked about what modifications to my clio would still be covered by the years free insurance.
His reply: You can have any non-performance enhancing modification upto the value of £1000. If you modify the engine in any way or...
Connor - I tried ringing but couldnt get through and they arent open tomorrow...
Anyway, Ill try to get through on Monday morning...ok mate?
If Renault actually allow the fitting of alloys to the car, the only fees involved should be a policy update charge of £39...as for £250 that seems...
Fordy - Yeah, just in a few Halfords stores...they were ok, seemed to know what they were on about...they have offers on at the moment which brings their higher than normal prices inline with most other places...I paid a shade under £700...£80 extra for shadowed chrome, and £22 for concealed...
Connor - Heres hoping no probs, cheers mate.
By the way, Renault Insurance told me I was covered for up to £500 of ICE, and £1000 worth of non-performance enhancing modifications - i.e. alloys.
At least that was my understanding of it anyway!...If you do ring them, would you post here what they...
Ok guys, I bit the bullet today and went to my nearest Ripspeed...I know theyre a bit expensive (got 20% discount though) but Ive bought some 17" Wolfrace Ikon Plus alloys in shadowed chrome.

But now Im...
I was pretty much set on getting some 17s, until a guy at work suggested just to stick to 16s as the handling is severly sluggish on 17s.
Is this true? He warned me that there would be large difference on the speedo too, like about +5mph? I knew thered be a difference, but I thought 5mph was...
Cheers Mike, at least now I know what to look for.
Those Vulcans are nice too by the way...Im looking for some anthracite/Titanium coloured alloys, I think theyd look cool with my dark grey paintwork.
Thanks again guys for the advice, my cliosport membership is in the post!
Cheers Dan. Id heard that Ripspeed were very expensive - theyre the ones affiliated with Halfords right?
The performancealloys.com website seems pretty good, I might give them a call. Have you had any dealings with Larkspeed? Their website keeps popping up, may give them a call too.
The advice...
Cheers for the link, I didnt realise there was that much to consider. My next question is, how do I know that the set of alloys Im looking at is ET37 and a PCD of 4x100? For example will these fit...
Thanks for the quick reply mate.
Could I ask though, what are the offset = ET37 & PCD 4x100 bits? Im not quite down with the lingo just yet, like I said newbie.
((Hangs head in shame - ))
172gal - Thanks, Ill be sure to check em out...have you bought from them before?
Ok, Im looking to change the alloys on my new Clio...but am completely clueless as to how to go about it. Ideally Id like to fit 17s, but is it possible without any arch modifications or rubbing? I cant do any modifications to the bodywork as it is still under 3 yr Renault warranty, but also...
