for engine mount, i'm using a kangoo item from gsf, £50, they are on ebay too.
for upper gearbox mount i'm using a renault 19 jobbie, £9 delivered from ebay.
for lower gearbox mount, that probably doesn't need changing, i'm using a clio mark 1 item, £10 delivered from ebay.
and powerflex dogbone...
so i've been looking at the silkolene/titan pro s but a bit rich for my wallet
so it's titan supersyn or elf sxr, both can be had for £30ish delivered
much difference, really?
;) that's why i asked yesterday if you had a 182 exhaust or 182-to-172 cat/decat
but then i forgot about it in my last post :S
so it's 182 manifold and decat and cat of sorts.
the more i write about how much stuff is needed the more i think just fit a 172 decat and try my luck come mot time
that's the reason i want the 182 manifold- changing a cat and decat on a 182 is much simpler than the 172, but of course it means buying a 182 manifold, a 182 cat and a 182 decat. although i wouldn't have to buy the cat until next year which takes some of the cost burden away.
i want to get...
how much did you pay for the manifold, if you dont mind me asking. i want to decat mine, and fitting the 182 manifold would simplify things. thing is they cost £150+
if you mean, "do i need to loosen all the mounts to pull it forward" then no just the engine mount on the left. you need to slacken off the four large bolts holding the mount to the body. don't worry, you're engine won't drop. you should be able to see the plates on the mount move when you pull...
people have had different results from changing different mounts. some change the dogbone and it cures it, some change the top left mount and it cures it. me, i think i managed to cure mine by tightening up a bolt on the upper gearbox mount on the right.
you'll only need to do all of them if...
work have relocated recently and i've gone from a 3 mile round trip (which i didnt drive all the time! only when cold) to a 35 mile round trip. arses. don't have ac or cc in my cup, but i never used it when i did have it as you could feel it sapping the engine power when you switched it on!
take it to another garage :)
or do some basic checks yourself. get it off the ground and wiggle the wheel, see if there's any play with hands at 9 and 3, and 12 and 6. also be able to see if the cv boot is leaking. maybe dodgy bearing, should get worse on left hand bends. you sure its the...
edit:
ouch. i use to average 34mpg until i replaced my lambda sensor, i'm currently averaging 40.1mpg over a mixture of B roads and dual carriageways. admit some of it is driving miss daisy, but not averse to a bit of pace either.
no no i see your point, it could be a timebomb waiting to go off. it would be an £1800 cup, unless you want the dephaser done, which you should :)
to be fair, i imagine it could end up being a £2500 cup once you've got it going :)
imo it is cheap for a cup! when have you ever seen a cup for sale for £1500?
whether it will still be a cheap buy 6 months into ownership.... ;)
(also imo) is the cup not a better track car? wider track, thicker arb at the front, etc etc. and it looks nicer :) well it would without the exhaust...
i like the 182 pipes personally, although not the ones on that cup, they stick out too far. got the recessed system myself but would rather have 182 exhaust. as long as its not a twin hanging under the bumper :dead:

bargain for someone.... maybe
is it not a ball ache having to swap the cat over for mot time on a 172? that join above the subframe doesn't look too friendly.
actually interested in this, i want a decat :)
can you get standard replacement wishbone bushes?
if you can't, i presume i should get powerflex as its cheaper than buying new wishbones.
and if thats the case, i should then get powerflex arb bushes.
i imagine mixing powerflex and oem on the front will rapidly wear the oem ones...?

mwah ha ha knew it would turn up as soon as i posted..

well, the problem was still there with the manual rack fitted. but i think that could have been down to the tracking being out. (i put the pas back in, didn't like the manual rack.)
the diagnosis (from jms) is that the steering rack bushes need replacing. with the car on the ground and someone...
yeah if i look at my inner arb bushes i can see light between the bush and the bar. not good! i would have had standard renault replacements, but they shafted me about so have the opportunity to go with powerflex.
the inners are an arse to change, i think subframe drop.
same problem here. drives true some of the time, hit a small bump and pulls to the right, hit another small bump and drives straight. its not a violent pull. rear shocks, track rods, track rod ends, ball joints were all done prior to the problem. its not related to steering components as it did...
