NO handbrake!! snapped cable or something else?

as above my hand brake has totally given up.

When I pull up the handbrake I can see the cable being pulled(by looking at the callipers) but the 'L' shape piece that it pulls doesn't seem to move enough to engage the brake?

I have adjusted the cable as tight as possible from inside the car

I cant see the drivers side 'L' bit moving would people think that I have a snapped cable?

I still have tension on the handbrake lever itself which makes me think its not a snapped cable?

I'm confused now as to why its not working atall.

get under it and trace the cables from caliper

i have and they seem fine? this is whats confusing me they seem fine and like i say there IS tension in the cable when i pull the handbrake up!?

Pads worn? or cable stretched too far would be my guess.

sorted - i was adjusting the cable but without pumping the brake solid first. so to fix it:

slacken cable right off (from in side the car)

pump the brakes solid

tighten the cable up (again from in side the car)

done- one solid handbrake!!


easy when you know how.

my handbreak pulls up to far.. so i may need to do this

in really is simple mine as been a bit slacky for ageeeees wish i sorted it earlier tbh.
