Re: Rebuilt gearbox starting to crunch into 3rd after c.100 miles
gearbox is leaking on the main seal too, so i need to get tony/burpspeed to take it back to agency and get them to sort it foc. its supposed to be a rebuilt box!
would be, but i bought the box from tony@burpspeed, who had it rebuilt by agency. tony's going to speak to the chap at burpspeed who usually deals with agency, i need them to take the box in and fix it for free, cause at the moment its not a fully rebuilt box- the garage told me its leaking from...
i won't mention the nail in the tyre and the being caught speeding... both within a couple of days of picking the car up.
i may take you up on your previous offer to help me with the gearbox if said offer still stands. i hope that tony/burpspeed can try and get the gearbox sorted free of...
i just spoke to agency transmissions, they said likely to be a synchro ring- £100 fitted. so much for buying a rebuilt box. i'll wait and see if tony comes on here, see if he can take it back to them and get them to do it foc
ok, gearbox has got a leaking driveshaft seal and they think a stiff bolt ring is causing the grind into 3rd but they can't be sure without taking it apart.
:(
Re: Rebuilt gearbox starting to crunch into 3rd after c.100 miles
ok, the garage said the gearbox is the problem, they said they think it's a stiff bolt ring but can't be sure without taking it apart. they also said it's got a small leak at one of the driveshaft seals.
what's a bolt ring?!?
hi, thought i'd look through some other threads about rear discs and i've read about spacers breaking apart when removing old discs. is this the same thing as the abs rings?
if not, abs rings or abs magnets- or does it not matter on a cup?
cheers, kris
Re: Rebuilt gearbox starting to crunch into 3rd after c.100 miles
silent, all the mounts are new :) i did the powerflex dogbone back in september, and had the top and bottom mounts replaced in december while the box was out. nice to hear i wouldnt have buggered the synchro in that time...
Re: Steering pulling to the right after gearbox replacement but tracking is spot on??
no updates yet, it's been off the road since xmas eve with a split radiator hose, but i've sorted that now and it's going into the garage on monday morning.
Rebuilt gearbox starting to crunch into 3rd after c.100 miles
Hi all, I had a rebuilt gearbox (Agency Transmissions) fitted and after about 100 miles it started to crunch into 3rd gear, a very very minor crunch and I can avoid it if I let the revs drop a bit and it only does it when down...
went to fit 2nd hand hose today only to find that whoever removed it had cut through it at the heater matrix end, making the lower heater matrix pipe too short. muppets.
anyone know what the big hose from renault costs? looking more and more like those forge hoses
Re: Steering pulling to the right after gearbox replacement but tracking is spot on??
i thought the camber was fixed on the cup. looking at the info i have (could be wrong of course) the only thing adjustable is the tracking on the front wheels. i think the alignments i've had done are four...
yeah it's leaking, just put 6.5 litres in there and finally found water peeing out all over my lovely new gearbox. typical clio to have one big hose. might have to treat myself to some of these...
hi, my car is overheating and no hot air in cabin.
when i got to the shops earlier the engine fan was on which i thought strange. checked the coolant tank and it was empty! 2 litres went straight in. on way home engine getting hot but kept cool cause of the ambient temperature.
what's up?
Re: Steering pulling to the right after gearbox replacement but tracking is spot on??
it don't matter if you're wrong or not, that's the only way we all learn :)
i appreciate the suggestions and knowledge, and it will help others in future with the same issue.
relieved it's not the driveshafts...
Re: Steering pulling to the right after gearbox replacement but tracking is spot on??
thanks for the info. how would the driveshaft effect the steering- i could understand it under load but when cruising at a constant it can go from normal to pulling and back again
Re: Steering pulling to the right after gearbox replacement but tracking is spot on??
gearbox was from phase 1 and fitted to my phase 2 cup. yes old driveshafts were used.
this doesn't sound good...
Re: Steering pulling to the right after gearbox replacement but tracking is spot on??
rebuilt gearbox, £250 from tony, club member
no, it's not just the steering wheel, let me paint a picture :)
i'm driving down a flat dual carriageway;
hardly any grip on the steering wheel;
car drives...
sorted the starting problem, bit of corroded bodywork, wire brushed and re-attached.
not the end of my problems though...

Re: Steering pulling to the right after gearbox replacement but tracking is spot on??
hi, i've noticed it's intermittent. sometimes it'll drive perfectly true for half a mile, hit a small bump and then it starts to pull. i would normally associate this with worn ball joints, bushes, etc, but it...
Re: Steering pulling to the right after gearbox replacement but tracking is spot on??
if it's just a little pull, try swapping the fronts with the rears and see if that changes anything. mine pulls more than a little unfortunately.
and most roads have a camber which will pull you slightly to...
hi, i had my gearbox replaced and tracking was off, car pulling to the right (and more than a little bit). just been to get the tracking sorted and it's spot on. i'm going to take it to another place after work for a second opinion, but the first place i've used twice this year and always happy...
where does the other end of the strap connect to? i too have starting problems, if the garage cant look at it today ill have to get out there in the cold and sort it myself. i can see the connection on the gearbox from above and its tight.
i can start the car by connecting an earth from the...
can i get at the cable from above- is it just a case of tracing the negative terminal down to the starter motor, or will the earth be on the gearbox? mechanic didn't open today, can't blame him, but if it's just a case of tightening a bolt up i'll do it myself. cheers
