I always advise people to get two or three of each pad for this reason, especially the polishing grade.
Would see how you get on with the polishing pad first yes.
Order sounds fine. Not sure on how much cut the lazor buff has but it is always worth trying the mildest combos first on a polishing pad before you step up and use cutting pads.
Hand - lots of elbow grease and still chances are you won't be 100% successfull. Choose a polish designed for hand application use that can be broken down effectivly by hand. Multiple applications of Meguiars Scratch X applied with a folded terry towel for extra bite and even pressure is good...
No other colour looks as good as Black when all polished up.
On the 182 it would have to be Black Gold or Liquid Yellow. On the 172 it would be Monaco Blue or Flame Red.
After washing the car, put you hand in a plastic sandwich type bag and rub it over the piant, this will easily allow you to feel any contamination bonded to the paint for the clay to remove.
My Road Angel 2 was very poor even in the cut out so ended up getting an seperate antenna for it on the rear shelf. Purchased my TomTom One with an antenna aswell expecting to need it but it seems to work without it fine placed anywhere on the front screen.
