Your iMac spec isn't the best, but i still wouldn't swap it for an iPad, especially a basic one.

Does all that along as you only want to store and share photo's, not much editing. I recommend subscribing to flickr and keeping photo's on there to save iPad space.

What do you use you iMac for at the moment? Tell us and we'll tell you if an iPad would be suitable. Imo, an iMac and iPad are such a good pair of devices to own, most people would have both.

They always need mapping, that ktr comes with a map to get you to the mapping place you choose, its not to run on permanently. Thats how i see it anyway.

This. You'd need an ECU and it would need mapping whatever you got.

Wood. I got a big office desk from ebay for £20 from a business that was relocating, retail was about £200-£250 iirc. Just a normal long and wide desk with a filing cabinet at one side, no silly workstation with a printer where your legs should be and silly pull out shelf for the keyboard.
