Well yeah, a disclaimer would be of benefit, but then again everyone does it so you'd be as well trying to forcefeed a burger to a vegan for all the chance you'll have of enforcing the above on parts suppliers!
TBF though i think it comes down to common sense (and i'm not being cheeky by...
Well considering hillpower chips are mapped for specified mods (i.e stage 1 IK, exhaust and stage 2 cams/head) its obvious that the 10/12 bhp increase they quote is obtained in conjuction with other parts so a perfectly reasonable and realistic quote.
As for steering clear of Hillpower...
Yep, exactly...and the 245 doesn't include mapping.
I'd be fitting cams, flowed head, 2ltr BE before even thinking about a chip...standard ECU will cope well enough with all those in the meantime.
Wouldn't bother with chip atm unless you can get one secondhand...chipping costs a lot for what you get on the 16v.
Rather save you money for engine work and then chip if need be...altho the std ECU can cope with a lot.
As said, don't bother with a remap as you'll get sod all from it.
If you fancy doing some engine work, i'm doing cam and headwork on my 1.2 which i would have recommended but a) i don't think you can get off-the-shelf cams for your engine and b) as its 16v the cost would be uneconomical...
I can't play that file.
What kind of noise is it tho?
My money would be on the cambelt idlers/tensioners is its a sqeaking noise...especially if it goes away/gets drowned out above 2k.
two bolts on the inside of the front wings...you'll need to remove the splashguards to get at these,
two bolts at the bottom of the bumper connecting to the subframe,
also (sometimes), one but behind the number plate,
also (if phase 3), two screws next to the headlights/behind bonnet...
I'd have to side with the 225 TBH...its a more powerful better built car at the end of the day and (IMO) you can't laugh in the face of development simply because your on a clio forum...thats just daft.
However, i'm force to agree with Big Iain - just by a faster car. Christ, you can pick up...
No, only phase 3 has the third brake light. Generally speaking (looks wise, ignoring 16v vs RT etc);
Phase1:
small triangular wing mirrors,
slated grille,
flat rear lights,
'boomerang' rear wiper
Phase2;
As phase 1 except
rounded wing mirrors,
u-shaped grille,
bubbled/updated rear...
You'll need to measure the spacing of the 2 bolts on the bottom of the shock. Do this center to centre - it should be either 52mm, 54mm or 58mm.
Once you know that you'll be able to order accordingly.
^^How will it be cheaper?? Rear beam will cost under a 100 with the bits you need and fittings not going to be much more....then go factor in insurance/running costs for a 16v.
I personally wouldn't bother tho...rear brakes do very little altho drums do look shite i'll agree...
Just get the williams lump then get a cheap 1.8 ECU and have it chipped to 2ltr spec by Hillpower. You'll be able to use your 1.8 ECU as long as your careful if you need to wait on the 2ltr ECU.
Can be...can also be the water corroding the reciever circuit board - take it out and if its got white stuff over/around the circuits then you'll need to clean that off too.
The ones above are only found on 172 Cups but you can also buy exactly the same wheel from the wheel manufacturer minus the reno centre caps...they're made by speedline and called turinis.
The other ones you're thinking of are probably the std alloys off the phase1 172 (the bug eyed...
