Airbag? Nah - the phase 1 wheel looks and feels better (not gay looking!). Lets face it, if you have an accident in a valver, youll usually be going warp 9 so a airbag aint gonna make a difference!
I have a hillpower chip on my 16v - theyre the best value out their for our cars and i felt a good difference. Similar sortof situation to cossie owners years ago - there was one company who made THE chips to have..... Another bonus is they can map for a range of mods whther your car is with...
Maybe about 150 if your lucky....the cone is probably eliminating the benifits of the exhaust n chip! Ive gotta K&N with cams/chip etc and will be removing it soon as it aint as fast as it should be - sounds the business but saps power like nothing on earth.... With the hillpower chip and closed...
Why bother? Youd be cheaper turboing your existing lump and itd still be faster! It would also make the power its supposed to unlike these new-fangled 172s.....;)......<waits for abuse>
It looks fine to me - best bet would be oil spillage from topping the car up...
..just wondering tho - would the car have had a serious overheating problem at some point in its life? The reason i ask is if it had and the rocker cover had warped from the heat (alloy innit?) it might leak even...
When my alternator went, a light on the dashboard came on. Not cheap to fix unfortunately :(. TBH, i think it must be something else on your car - if it was the alternator, the battery would have discharged long before now and it wouldnt loose power and then shoot off etc..... Think id stick it...
Probably your headgasket with the water problem - also toppping up with water doesnt really help as it evaporates off as steam anyway! The oil pressure problem could be as simple as a sensor or something like the oil pump on its way out.
No the wider track was down to a combination of the alloys and renault 19 lower wishbones. You will notice this is you stick willy wheels on a valver - they dont come out as far of the front arches.
Think he meant that the Williams has a slightly wider front track (30mm or so) and a different suspension setup. Apparently its supposed to be less twitchy on the edge but i suppose that comes down to driving style and preference....
Im sorry - i wasnt aware that less of a performance difference between the two thesedays meant that a modded 1800 could stay with even a standard 2.0. Maybe ive just lost my command of the english language or something m8 cos that to me that means that the 2.0 is still the slightly better car...
if thats meant at me then i think i said something along the lines of theres hardly any performance difference between the two - not that the valver is better / quiker etc..
The Williams has got a lot more status with it being limited in numbers and on paper should be the better car but consider this - very, very few 16v are standard any more so there is less of difference performance wise between them thesedays. However, both are totally different to drive - the...
To remove your valver ecu, you will need to unbolt the jack and jack mount etc from the drivers side skuttle. Underneith, you will find a black plastic box with a think cable going into it. You will be able to separate the black plastic box (its ion two halves) and the ecu will be inside (silver...
Think youd be looking at about 25quid per corner and they will come back perfect. I think some companies even do an exchange system - ie they remove your alloys and fit an already refurbished set at the same time so your not without your wheels.
My phase 1s looked really bad when i got the...
Well, im in Aberdeen - i sent my spare ECU down to Hillpower (south of england nr collchester i think) and they chipped and returned it really quickly. Absolutely no problems with it and it made a hell of a difference. If you dont mind lossing the use of your car for a few days, just courior...
Dean, i have a spare ECU if you want to keep your existing one as a backup or while you you have your one sent away to be rechipped. I think they will solder the new chip into your own ECU so if you dont like the results you will have bother removing it..... Ive got a hillpower one in mine and...
Well after putting my valver into Renault to fix the vague steering and get rid of screeching noise when turning the wheel theyve finally got my new rack installed (after nearly two weeks!!). The screeching is apparently down to my alternator working itself loose, shearing one of its bolts and...
Hastings - apologies about the earlier spiel about if its a bored out 1.8 then walk away - what i meant was that if it had a replacement engine installed (ie a 1.8, bored out or not) then walk away. This happened to my mates old willy after he sold it and it went for peanuts!
2 live - I have...
Bloody hell dude - If its a williams but with a bored out 1.8 id be tempted to walk away for the following reasons;
If its got a 1.8 in it can you really be sure its been bored out (1.8/2.0 engines look near identical without getting into engine numbers etc)? If the engine has been replaced...
Ouch - This is a sore point with me at the moment! My valver was really vague when i bought it a few months ago and since then the tracking has been done, track rod ends replaced, balljoints replaced etc - all of these helped but its still not right....
Two weeks ago i put it into the local...
I think you should definately go for it! If what youve been told is true, then the 110k miles wont be a problem (apparently shopping trips etc) and the fact that is has been owned by family friends should also back this up - youll know roughly how they drive! As for the rust, Its well known that...
Haha! Ill beat you all - and ive only had the car since Febuary!!! (costs are approx and includes labour)
Engine reconditioning > £2000, Alternator > £327, Cooling System > £130, PBV > £80, K&N > £70, Ecotek > £60, BBPT Stainless Decat Zorst > £300, New Discs and Pads all...
Prima Racing do manifolds and also all parts for a throttle body conversion but you wont have change outtof 2k i think. Assuming youve already got the usual zorst, filter combo, id bung in some some cams, chip and maybe some uprated pistons and gasflow it. Youll get decent power and itd be a...
