All Nikon lenses have international warranty with proof of purchase iirc.
I've had a play with the Nikon 70-300mm VR and it is a very nice lens but is also quite expensive.
I have that 35mm AF-S lens and I love it! very handy little thing. All depends on what you like to photograph but I would imagine at some point, you will acquire both items. Get the 35mm, then save up for 70-300mm is what I would do.
I'm not a Canon fan myself and have no experience with them. Have played with the D90 and it's a fantastic bit of kit. This site may help you find a cheap retailer...

I read that the 60mm AF-S is a good lens but you have to work REALLY close to your subject for 1:1 work. I bought the 105mm AF-S Micro a few weeks back, thoroughly impressed with it - steep at £600ish but worth every penny imo!
cool! you can pan normal cars on the street. Just make sure they can't stop anywhere near you to beat you up. I've gotten away with it many times! :approve:
Try using Adobe Lightroom for processing, quick and easy. Then you can use Photoshop later for more detailed post production.
Have a look at the Nikkor 70-300mm AF-S VR lens if you're looking for a telephoto. That way you have 18-300mm focal lengths covered. Just a thought! =)
I was at a wedding a couple of weeks ago. I decided not to buy a flashgun but looking back, I should have! I was shooting with 35mm f1.8 and 105mm f2.8 (D60) and struggled to get good lighting.
