I think it's pretty bad that a commercial vehicle uses a belt driven engine in this day and age. Some vans do upwards of 100k a year and manufacturers expect people to have the van off the road for 2 days every 8 months for a £5/6/700 cambelt replacement??
No wonder Mercedes sprinters sell so...
I've answered my own question, it seems they are belt driven if it's the 2.5.
Also, on your invoices, there will be some of the generic writing at the bottom, usually generated by the service advisor, that states ''Cambelts due every xxx miles or xxx years, ask us for a quote'' or similar.
Ultimately, you were given a book pack which states servicing intervals and procedures. at 230,000 miles you'll be lucky to get £10 out of them i'd have thought.
You sure it's not train driven? I thought the newer masters had chains.
Jack it up on the sill with a block of wood to protect the sill, then put the axle stand under the bolts that bolt the back of the subframe to the chassis?
The front of my car has been sat like that for over a year. The back wheels haven't even got any bolts in them! lol
As nice as those cars are (Some of them are stunning particularly the caddy!) VW shows are more or less identical all over the country year after year.
Stupidly.
I had a one box decatted 2.75 inch system on my ph1 years ago and it was deafening at 60-90mph. With no boxes it would be horrific.
It's a clio ffs, why do you want it stupidly loud??
My mate at the time put £6000 worth of JL audio, MTX and Kenwood gear into his G reg 1.4 Merit Astra. He got it from Sextons and did it on a 4 year finance deal!
Looking back at it now, it was utter lunacy!!
If ever i've seen a man trying (and failing!) to hold on to his youth, that was him.
I do love Dimma stuff though. Used to dream of owning one when i was 12/13! lol .
Barnett Ring Vince at Bristol auto care, based in St George. (You'll have to google his number) Very helpful bloke that has his own machine shop. If he can't do it, he'll know where to send you for sure.
I've never done a 'detail' for money so I can't call myself a detailer really.
The last one I did I spent 3 days on.
I charge £120 a day for valeting so I can't see many people wanting to spend £360+ on me doing their car seeing as I don't actually know anyone with a nice car.
I have a rotary and a da.
I will do whatever you experts tell me to do. I'm perfectly competent ability wise, just not very good with product placements.
Guys...
in my 'dans personal kit' box at work I have; Gtecniq P1, AF revitalise, AF refine, Chemical guys 3N, Prima amigo, SMART wax, SMART sealant, zymol carbon, AG SRP, AF Triple. I have other products but those are the worthy ones.
What order or what would/wouldn't you use?
I'm going to...
I'm having my first lesson on how to do F4R belts next week. Fed up of paying people! :D
(I'll see you in the wanted section the week after, once my engine has smashed the valves to bits...)
Well don't I feel like a c**t! Lol.
So how has my track car sat for two years with no bolts in the rear wheels then? This is not me being awkward, I just want to understand.
