Just make sure if it is cold out that the clay is warm and plyable. Heat it up in some warm water first if need be so its soft.

You really only need to use very little pressure, enough to keep the clay in contact with paint and so it can glide back and forth freely.
I divide the clay bar into 3 or 4, normally a third of a bar is fine to do a whole car unless its real...
Working by hand requires some extreme elbow grease to try and remove them and is mostly never 100% succesfull. Meguiars scratch X and a folded terry towel for more bite is one of the best routes by hand.
A Porter Cable machine Polisher is proabably the best option.
