    Rear wheel hubs

I should add, rear bearings come already installed on rear discs most of the time which is by far the easiest way to replace them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rear wheel hubs

I assume you have a 172 or 182? Can you post a photo of what you have? They’re all the same although the stub axles are 2 different sizes depending on whether you have a Cup or not Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Crankshaft pulley

Pure Mototsport sell the pulley. Worth doing if you’ve got it apart. Prevents timing slipping if you over rev. Seen plenty bend valves this way. Especially on track Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Crankshaft pulley

The Megan pulley does have the key and is a straight swap. A worthwhile preventative measure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    K20 powered 172

Yes I almost mentioned that! And that the reservoir is higher still but not quite as weighty! We could go on.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    K20 powered 172

Virtually nothing in it! Although the column is heavier, it’s offset by the pump, hoses, reservoir and fluid. I think I worked it out to being about 100grams lighter! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Oil leak?

How well does your mate know Renaults? Most likely leak there is from the cam end caps. Anything else is more involved. But it is a 5 minute job if that’s what it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Living with a 182 in the MSV Trackday Trophy

Nice write up! You never forget your first start; so true. Biggest adrenaline rush ever. One of the main reasons I come back time and again to race is the great bunch of people racers tend to be. Always willing to help each other and always plenty of banter! Come and join us in the Tin Tops...

    172 dyno power restore project

Interesting little project. Worth doing a compression test too. If that’s down no amount of timing will help really. Good luck with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Cam scoring advice

It's not the worst. First of all, refit the cams with a bit of lubrication, tighten the cover back down without any sealant and just check that the cams rotate freely. If they don't then you've got some distortion somewhere. I'm sure you know that the cam cover and head are matched and are not...

The trials & tribulations of racing a Clio

Believe me I have! It's a bit of a head scratcher. The only thing I can think of is that the lifter stuck momentarily. Either that or it was a rogue valve that fatigued over time. Although the rev limit was only 7800 I think I'm going to lower it slightly now. Not that that will help with a...

The trials & tribulations of racing a Clio

I'm running Supertech springs as well but not the double ones. I sent them down to Nick at PMS to measure and supply me with the correct shims for them.

They were Supertechs!! That's what is so surprising.

The trials & tribulations of racing a Clio

The valve that broke wasn't new. It was the opposite end of the block to the cylinder that had the bolt sucked into it last month. All the valves were replaced on that cylinder.

The trials & tribulations of racing a Clio

So, 2 weeks later and I think I'm ready to update this! Oulton Park was eventful and anyone who follows me on any kind of social media will know the story already. On this occasion I was taking the family away with me for the weekend as this was a Bank Holiday weekend and our race was on the...

182 slow conversion to race car

No problem. I race in the CSCC Tin Tops at the moment but have raced in MSV trackday trophy and also 750mc roadsports in the past. All are 40 or 45minute races with 1 or 2 drivers like you did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

182 slow conversion to race car

Of all the upgrades you could do, the gripper will shave the most time off your laps. If you haven't got the PMS shifter kit get it before you start using the gearbox. It will save it in the long run. Good luck with the racing!

The trials & tribulations of racing a Clio

Very happy with progress today. Collected another new starter this morning. Fitted it and all good. The car was starting but didn't seem very happy with the existing map. Some adjustment to the throttle position sensor helped it to idle but it was still tricky to keep running while moving it...

The trials & tribulations of racing a Clio

Anyone following me on Instagram will know this already but the last 10 days have seen some decent progress but again she's fighting me to the end. The engine parts saga concluded with Thurston deciding that the rings were also salvageable. the engine having only done about 40 hours running...
