Im suprised at that :o i know they are VVT engines but even so...! My 106 GTi was worse for fuel than my 172 and 182! That was shocking for fuel! Thats a good price for insurance mate! Ive yet to see one upclose yet, maybe get a wee look at the next meet!

Yeah 31/32 for me (standard car), 40+mpg is only really possible on a long run in good conditions

I hope the mpg you guys are talking about is willy waving? Anything less than 33 combined from a 1.6 is shocking!

I jest mate :o It seems a bit daft to me though, insurance is confusing enough at the best of times never mind making differences, so long as folk (women) keep crashing, and folk drive without insurance itll make piss all difference! :S
