the tensioner on a 172 cup is built into the alternator braket

yep thats common, the cause IMO is due to NOT inspecting the condition of the aux belt tensioner, its normally this that fails which in turn causes the aux belt to go which then 9/10 times gets sucked into the cambelt yoz is irish, and i'm half irish, could be a good excuse for a weekend...

well RSi's have a JB3 gearbox (along with R5 GTT and clio 16V) williams use the stonger JC5 box (identical to look at), we have quite a few high powered R5 GTT's and turbo charged clio 16v/williams over here, some are up around 300bhp i'll look into it tomorrow, it'll have to be a paddle clutch

is it running an RSi gearbox??

i suppose its a bit like the problem 172 cups have of always failing the MOT on rear brake bias, the fix we were told to do was to sit 3 people in the back and then retest it, they pass then!
