The fuel pump wires on mine were crap. really really loose so in the end I cut out the connector and just soldered them together. This took 2 mechanics a long tome to diagnose! lol.

Go to the scrappy and cut a belt clip off any car. Will cost you £2 max. Plug it in problem solved. If you start messing about with wiring and want to sell the car at a later date you have to undo all your work.
