it may be lack of experience on different suspension setups chap, no offence meant, but i have run a hell of a lot of different springs, coilovers, shockers on a hell of a lot of different clios over the years and of the lot, the apex were by far the worst.
dont get me wrong, they went round...
as above, cooksport are offering the springs on an ongoing basis i believe, i think its just the group but for 15 sets at a discount which they setup to generate interest that your on about. retail is 120 plus delivery
eibachs are rated for the handling, apex do sit nicer but ride crap, cooksports are as yet pretty new so untested on the wider public, i have a set to try in the shed :)
k's is on apex mate as he said in first post
i had apex on my old 172 and found them absolutely atrociously bad ride, my coilovers (cheap ktecs) are less harsh!lol!
this is my FF on coilies
and on 15's instead of the 16's like above
Re: ArcticClio182...progress..
i'll give you that, my 172 did look the part on them, but I just couldn't cope with the ride quality, literally anything other than a totally smooth A road was a nightmare, all B road blasting fun was just a no no :(
tbh a lot of other road users consider Clio's to be chav-mobiles, and I'm sort of with them, I embrace my tw*t chariots with aplomb and couldn't give a monkeys what anyone thinks, but that's just me :)
Re: ArcticClio182...progress..
oh god not apex!!! terrible terrible springs, crashy as hell and ruined the ride on my 172 :(
very nice looking car though, lovely clean example :)
I have also been collecting parts for more improvements to the car, I am currently in two minds as to suspension choices as well.
the car currently runs on KTEC coilovers, which i kind of think are okay, not great, but decent enough for lows and daily road use, but i want to try some other...
I powdercoated my engine components for my mark 1 five years ago, that included cam cover and such so high heat exposure
All of its still pretty much mint, so it's pretty hard wearing ;)
ai, I had a set of 5 as well..............it wasn't you who bought them off me was it perhaps??? I sold them about 18 months or so ago I think to a CS member!
my advice, don't put 17's on, they'll look too big and more than likely rub with cheap springs on standard shocks and any tyre profile. rock some nice 16's on the 35mm drop and be happy with no scrubbage ;)
edit: post read fail, its a mk3 you have, apply above to mk2, so in this case ignore...
as all others have said, nasty crash but glad your facing the demons and restoring her. Zetec makes financial sense, but I'm getting the impression that that's beside the point for this car so twin cam lotus it must be imo
mine is already beginning to grate, love the stance but as a daily its a bit tiresome, same as the yozza. well its more like when others are in the car, I don't mind when i'm on my own with radio on etc, but with someone in the car its just not really nice!lol!
