Re: MK1 F4R track car project
good to see your still alive Danny boy and glad the cars back in the love zone of your psyche ;)
I still have so much love for the K plate that inspired my mark 1 obsession and you've done it proud, looks lovely! when you next about on track, wouldn't mind a...
Re: AndyRG - Opps ive done it again!
i'm unsure on the car colour choice, very reserved for you Andy lad and I don't think it quite suits the lines of the car, almost looks 1.2 esq. but perhaps that's placebo due to the sports never coming in grey........ meh once boosting and flying it wont...
as above, I always give benefit of the doubt if the car looks good. but It does put me off somewhat. also also get a bit dubious if there is no mileage quoted..........
if you just have a damaged fifth in the spare, thats usually an easy fix, just remove the end cap and get a decent 5th gear and synchro and slap it in. provided rest of the box is in good nick you should be laughing
i have been through many many used boxes, and the phase 1 172 boxes are coming...
i love the fear people have, like water never gets in the bay when you hit a puddle or drive through a weir etc.
there is no issue with jet washing the bay if your sensible, avoid the key areas such as spark plugs/dizy/coil etc etc. its al designed to be water resistant anyway so can take water...
Rofl, course it isnt! Hence the recovery period comment ;)
water in the ignition system/sensors from jetwashing the bay, always takes a while to clear :)

out the top is a pain, frame off and bottom exit is the way, hour or so's job then if it goes smoothly, which these days it always does with the box being out so often! :)
I know its a very stressful job and its easy to get caught in a moment and believe a person presents a threat, and as you say there could be weapons involved that we do not know about from watching a video like that. however from the final sequence it seems very much to me like the bloke is...
ah right, although tbh I just drop the whole frame to do the mk 1 anyway, leave everything up top apart from 3x bolts to box from top box mount then undo 10 bolts or so for frame/side bars/4th mount/column and ball joint pinch and drop the lot so it hangs off the downpipe, box drops straight out...
I've been through 13 I think now, but so easy to change and so cheap to buy that it doesn't really bother me and the early mk 2 172 boxes seem to be the best of a bad bunch, current ones done 3-4 track days and countless pod trips, although its now snatching 3rd most of the time and 5th aint...
