It was quite loud on both of mine tbh. Just position the box so both feeds are facing the headlight (passenger) and no warm air will get in there.

Welcome mate. In honesty I'd enjoy the car for the time being, and save for a 172 or 182. However the other side of me says yes go for a 172 bumper, being pearl black you should be able to get bumpers etc in your colour. Many people have fitted the front bumper without the wings and skirts etc...

I believe the manifold is one of if not th e only reason the 182 is 'more' powerful than the 172. Might be wrong though. Definately worth it as you've got the engine out. They are cheap too.

But in reply to your question yes, standard 172 box with a foam filter (piperx or itg) will sound louder. Leave the two pipes off and see.

The springs are a ball ache to fit (fronts anyway) but the tears are easy. I managed all of mine on my own but I had access to the tools needed. It was done on axle stands though so if you've got the tools and follow the guides on here it isn't that bad. Seriously if I did it, a blind panda can...

Welcome. On the centre section I had a pipe put into mine when I had it, cost £40 from an exhaust place (not powerflow) so shop about. Welcome to the club, you'll love it. I miss my 182 all the time.

Nice mate. Get some plain standard plates off eBay for about £10 a pair. Then maybe have a go at colour coding, you'd be amazed at the difference that makes even on a black Clio.
