When you say its not compatable what do you mean? there an ISO conenctor at the back of the unit so any unit should fit realy the only slight possible problems are the remote and display not working/being present.
Rob fenn had posted some pictures of his black 1.2 on coilovers with Cup wheels.
I wouldnt worry about modification though. Renault have been known to replace suspension bits even on cars with coilovers where the coilovers can without a question be totally blamed for the failure but Renault...
Just say youve got other appointment. The best thing about buying anew car is you have such a wide choice.
What about a sligthly higher milage Mk1. Personally Id prefere something to have adveraged 14k/yr than 5k as it will he longer journeys ie less wear and you can get them cheaper.
A...
Private sale in good condition Id say 6k from trade £6.7k
You can get mk1s with 60k on the clcok for £5k from private sales that would be my choice as high milage is no problem so long as you recognise the 72k service is an expensive one.
When you floor the throttle there is the clickly bit on it which is a switich to disconnect the cruise so that might bee the sound your hearing.
As for the other problem well it might be the throttle pedal is at fault and one of the sensor line (there are two) has failed causing the high idle...
Personally in my view thes 3 choice a Mk1 172 for £5~6k with 50k private sale. A Mk2 52~53 plate with about 36k for £7~8k and a new 182 for £12k from drive the deal like places.
It all depends what your looking for. A new car will cost the most in depreciation in say 2 yrs (assume you own all...
Nope Mk2 has springs and shocks at the back.
You can wear bits ie shocks if you dont replace them and you can wear driveshaft bits but thats no reason not to lower it.
Theres someone on autotrader at the moment selling a 172 which has an LPG conversion. %5k I think there asking for the car ie no more than a normal 172 is worth.
Check the air vents are closed.
Best take it to a dealer though it sound like the typical interier sensors acting up sensitive the dealerships have a simple fix to swop a few wires round to lower the sensitivity of the alarm.
The only other thing it might be is a bad switch but the...
I cannot see you getting a 172 for that sort of money unles it has 100k+ and more likly 150k on it.
2000 Mk1 with 60k are about £5k private and 2002 Mk2 about 5k for a 130k model.
What about a year or two old 172 for a lot less?
Regars mods well officially they can only refuse work if they can prove thee modification can be attributed to the problem. However its bad PR and difficult to prove often so they replacer parts under warently.
A few owners on here have had...
Id personanly get it fixed but it all depends what you want. A Williams in bits is worth a fair bit (more than just the car as normal for sale probably) but its a lot of effort. Also is there some other car you want instead?
The 1.6 is the mid range.
The extra costs of the 172 /182 arnt as big as you may think mpg is about the same the extra service cost is very little and insurance doesnt change much as the 1.6 is group 14 (or so) anyway.
The problem I think Id have with running cost is I do 20k/yr. I go though a set of front tyres ever 12k on my 65hp dci so rear tyres would last me probably 8k on a V6 and at what £200 thats going to be an expensive car to run. Also Id end up paying an extra £100 a month probably on fuel.
How...
Im very tempted but Id only go for a RHD model and there ~£14k. And Im not sure its worth (or I want to spend) that sort of money on one, particularly with the other costs associated with me driving one.
