I remember hearing that you can do this as the clio gearboxes can be refitted to any clio so in theory you could put a 172 gearbox in there.
No idea how much it would cost thoug Im imagining its a big job and they would have to remove the engine.
Depending upon what you have done to your car...
There will probably be a few horse power that a chip can give a N/A petrol engine but not many.
Somone on this forum chipped there 172 and it didnt give many more hp.
So a 1.6 will give even less.
Turbos are the only cars which make big gains as the boost can be turned up which means more...
The renault website is useless if you mess about with the options you can pay £15k for a 172 with a 1.2 16V engine instead
My local delership laughed when I told them abou ti saying them new how bad it was.
Just ring up your dealer to check the specification

Errrrr use a chisel to remove the bump strips. I managed to push them of by hand.
Using a chisel is going to break the strip as its designed to be pushed backwards and off not prised away.
EDD
There easy to pull of no problem at all just push them backwards.
Just have someone else help you put them back on doing it on your own . I tried and never manged to get all the catches to go back on my own.

After getting the garage to get my stearing back to normal they managed to looses the remot control behind the wheel.
I dont want the garage to have another go at fixing the ca so is it possible to do it myselft I guess the bottom of the stearing wheel come away easily and its just need...
I have a similar type of problem getting my Clio to go in straight lines after its crash. Reading this thread gets me depressed though sound like it will never be right.
Good excuse for a new car (172 cup?) ASAP I guess which should show those 1.4 bodykitted Corsas up.
EDD
IF were going to brag them I wear a size 16.
Never hit both the accelerator and brake though have done on other cars but never the clio. I guess the pedals much be different in the faster clio.

Will the Laguna engine not fit the clios if so there is a pre-made engine built for you.
165hp stock I belive but get the turbo turned up and Im guessing your running over 200hp. Then again a 172 with TB would get 200 Im guessing so is it realy worth it.

I have been under the impression that the installation is relivatly simple the wiring is the difficult part. You end up with 3 wires from the GTT and 16 or so from the Clio.
Best to search for answers though.
Good luck are you going to do a diary so we know where to point future GTT...
Good news and bad news sorry
Bad news they arnt fitted in attempts to save weight there is a 3rd belt but its a lap belt.
Good news In some car mag reciently an owner was complaining that he hadnt been told that it wasnt present in the Cup. They fitted him one though at Renault. Im guessing...
Not according to the repair bill I got with my car. But thn again the figures for parts and painting dont equal the amount that charged my insurance company. I recons theres a scam there soemwhere. They definatly didnt replace three of my alloys but billed the insuracne company for them.

So all you have to get of speading fines from the Gatsoes is to add some stickers and mud guards on your car and send the photos of your car in as proef that it couldnt have been your car as your car has mudguards and stickers?

Why would someone pay £5.50 for something which costs £3.50 from Renault??
If the seller wasnt in Hampshire I would have though that that was the one from my clio which the repair garage replace for some reason. After also decided that it needs 3 new alloys when only 1 was damaged. Im of to...
I keep hitting the limmiter in the first 3 gears all the time. Nothing wrong with driving round the engine bouncing of the limiter from cold. Shame the car isnt faster as I dont seem to accelerate changing p as the car hits the limiter.
Dont worry its a Micra coutesy car I wouldnt do...
Have you tried asking if you can go to another dealership to have it fixed?
If the car is under a year old you can go to any dealership to get it fixed.
No idea how old your car is so that maybe useless though.

The more I see of them the more I like them unbelivable cars. They dont seem to look fast but the Golf has the same engine and they call it a GTi
Have you got any mods planed for it?
You can get some easy power out of that engine as it turboed.

I cannot see any company renting out 172s everyone hammers hire cars. The tyres would last a few days and they would be driven into fields and ditches all the time by people who werent used to a car that fast.
EDD
You dont do things by half do ya.
If you were dead or hospitalised that would be worse so look on the positive side.
Shows the strengh of the car how would a lighter car have survived ie Nova / Saxo.
I cannot see they bothering charging you with dangerous driving its to much effort to...
Everyone on here I guess will say the same as me get a 172
I drove a 1.4 once which was quciker than both the diesel and 1.2. A 1.6 is only 10hp more than a 1.4 and has much higher insurance rating for not much more power.
A 172 I have to say. I was thinking about a 1.4 but the more I...
