i was defendantly thinking of you for the gasket lol, as for the heat shield iv got a sheet of 1mm stainless and was planning on shaping a bit to conform to the ruff shape of the box but held it off the box with spacers so there is like a 10mm air gap to provide more insulation and reflect more...
iv cut a 80mm hole into the airbox and put a 80mm CAF running straight in i get the sound and performance atm, so far its proving well under testing, managed to get the inlet temp down 20 deg's
limo is good if your trying to hide anything ie speakers etc on the rear shelf, but if not go for a dark smoke that way you can still see things at night clearly
really do need some protection its gets bloody hot under there, read my post on airbox development, iv been doing some testing over the weekend, a standard airbox with no CAF takes in about 70 degrees while driving! due to the rad being directly in front of the filter area, with an open IK you...
grab ya self a heat shield too cos ya gonna need it, you will kill any gains of an open filter with the amount of heat your gonna be sucking in from that top rad pipe and your engine
im going to try and get hold of some PTFE gaskets at some point in the near future and also due to the amount of heat being generated by the radiator top pipe i was thinking of placing a heat sheild on the base of the airbox to try and lower tempuratures further,
iv been reading on a lot of the...
right more on this:
over the weekend iv been experimenting with various standard air box configurations
so far this is what iv found, using a standard 172 airbox with a KTR panel filter and standard inlet elbow, and an outside air temperature of 15 degrees C and an engine coolent temperature...
looking good, would look even more hidden if you got some mat black paint and just sprayed the inner 6"
you notice any benefit from having it there? is it worth loosing the fog light?
that needs to come off the rad, as your defeating the object of insulating the air from the heat, and also change to a bigger CAF as that atm is doing nothing, its prob just restricting you too
but how can it be so good if its basically the same as the above.... i cant understand how you can make a tube out of plastic stick a filter in there with a silicon elbow and charge 300+ quid for it yet for some reason doing the exact same thing using non itg products you get less power...how...
i was just having a look at some of the box's floating around in the whole v6 style of things and i came across a few designs that look very simuler,
has anyone thought about the following:
the landrover discovery 300d airbox
and the 1998 renault scenic airbox
Looking from those results its clear that bar one person the top 5 are all running the same v6, espace, ph1 airbox prob all with a itg replacement, all the lower units seem to be induction kits and panel filters,
so its loking clearer to me that a v6 style airbox with itg filter possibly with a...
Hold ya horses hahahaha i havnt even got a design yet its day one! i was just throwing some ideas around to see if people would A: be interested and B worth it lol
i could just be pissing in the wind for all i know but im gonna give it a lot of consideration and will report back with findings...
that would be very hard to mold with tbh but its worth a shot, as for the metal a .8m sheet of stainless rolled and wielded would be good but with metal prices today it prob couldn't be done cheap, but its worth a look
i was thinking suction molding, im sure i can get hold of or even make a rudimentary suction molding equipment,
make the mold out of wood or hard foam, and get hold of something like a 1mm acrylic or 1mm thermo plastic substance
Right we need to think of materials, it needs to be cheap to produce and replicatable
would rather i didnt use carbon fiber as that seems to force the price up to almost double, so would a thermo plastic be anygood for this type of application or are we going to be looking at harder sureness to...
that looks spot on how did you create the cylinder? how did you wield it etc details if you don't mind you could pm me if you don't want to advertise.
i would love to see some drawings of your idea if you didn't mind
well iv just been looking at how they price up the kits on a site that sells the kit in whole form or in bits, from what i can see 250 quid of a maxogen is in the carbon air box! the real filter part is only 45 quid!
so it might be something if we can develop an cheap similar sized air box and...
over the years people have used a lot of different types of air box's on there cars, from standard right up to £350+ of maxogen induction kits,
Basically i have a lot of time on my hands and a knowledge of cad software and plenty of useful applications at my disposal and was thinking if it...
i'm impressed with that rear trim its a much better fit than what i got originally, if thats the kind of fitment bic is achieving now i cant wait to get it changed, thats how i imagined it would fit
btw bic did you receive my OEM trim?
