From Macrumors
Steve Jobs held a town hall meeting with Apple employees late last week following the iPad launch. Wired reports on what was said at the meeting by Steve Jobs. Two of the biggest topics included Google and Adobe.
On Google, Jobs confirms the much-reported competition between the...
Yeah I know that but I was highlighting that all you need is the HD pack and not the additional Multiroom for new customers. The £10 HD fee is a rip off though so I'll stick to Virgin Media.
Most of my friends would have bought this immediately had it offered a OS X type experience but on seeing what is essentially a large iPod Touch they will not bother buying it.
I had a look and installation was free without multiroom but I did need to subscribe to the HD pack at £10 per month.
Set up: Non-standard set-up may cost extra. Standard set-up of Sky+HD box with the HD Pack is £30 for new Sky TV customers (free if you join online), £60 for existing customers...
Same can be said of any product, a friend of mine has had nothing but trouble with a 5 month old 24" iMac which has needed repaired 4 times already. My 3.5 year old iMac and 8 month old MacBook Pro have worked perfectly.
That's OK for certain stuff but I'd like to see UK papers and magazines offered on a subscription basis and delivered directly to the iPad. Having said that I don't know when I last bought a magazine as everything that is printed in them I've already read online anyway!
I think for the US market the iPad could be excellent as it will be very content driven with magazine and newspaper subscription services but here in the UK we for the most part do not get these so miss out on a large reason for buying it. Very similar to the Boxee Box which will be on sale...
I use my iPhone with iPeng for now but a dedicated device that I can use when my phone rings would be better. The iPad or a iPod Touch would do the job.
The iPad may be a good alternative for controlling my home media PC and Squeezebox units rather than using my iPhone with HippoRemote. Not sure that's a valid reason to spend £400 though.
Engadget are reporting that iBooks looks like a US only app.

This is what the BBC tennis text commentary reporter thought of the iPad:
Murray 3-6 6-4 6-4 5-1* Cilic
You can tell this match is almost done, we've sparked up a discussion about the merits (or not) of the iPad or whatever it's called. Just an unwieldy iPhone is the verdict. Murray holds...
I'd rather spend the money I would have used to buy the iPad on a Nexus One or equivalent instead and then also buy the 4th gen iPhone outright. Best of both worlds and I can swap between phones every so often.
It is broadcast using the same satellite as the other Sky/Freesat channels so is available to all dishes pointing towards 28.5E, you may have a dish alignment problem which is stopping you receiving the channel.
Just home and have watched the video on the Apple website. Not convinced I really need one but I can see me buying the entry level 16gb version which I reckon will retail for £399 in the UK.
