You can demo it from the Live disc and opt to install from there. Be sure and choose the manual partition settings and then confirm the default values it offers to you otherwise the install will freeze at 15%. No such problem with YDL.
My free copy of Casino Royale arrived 4 weeks after I bought the PS3, last Friday :)
The PS3 comes with an ethernet port built-in allowing you to connect it to your router. Wifi is also standard if you have that option.
Plenty of good Linux info over on AV Forums pS3 section. I think I'll try Ubuntu this weekend, currently running YDL.

Excellent buy for the price you have paid. Ignore those who say it's crap, it is no worse than the 360 from a offline gaming stance and I'm sure the online experience will improve once we have more games available. Brilliant console for gaming, media playback via Linux and BD.
I've tried to install this on my PS3 but when I enter the OS via the Live CD the screen res is incorrect and I cannot see the bottom of the open windows. How can I correct this so that I can follwo the install screens?
Ubuntu have now released a Live CD that works with the PS3, may be worthwhile downloading this and testing it in your PS3.

Yeah £300 on release day back in Sept 1995 :D
I may download Destruction Derby from the PS3 online store when it becomes available in the UK, it'll probably look terrible now. The original Wipeout will also be available. Having said that I must still have the original PS1 copy of both at home...
