I don't think so. I think you first need to transfer it onto a Orange PAYG sim card and then they will allow you to transfer it back onto a contract sim. Bit of a silly route but the only one available.
I was having similar thoughts regarding the 3250 and N80. I may well end up with the N70 because it's a very capable phone with lots of applications available for it. The new symbian os will also have alot less available for it due to all content having to be digitally signed by symbian.
I think the offer he gave me was possibly not all it first appeared to be. I now think o2 still expect me to pay £129.99 to upgrade but they will then give me 3 months free line rental which would effectively reduce the handset cost to £69.99. I'd still need to pay £129.99 up front. Not a chance.
Yeah the active profile is also on the 3250 and is a Nokia feature.
I phoned o2 and they have offered me the N80 for £70 plus 3 months free line rental so I reckon I'll return the 3250. N80 will be available June 5th.
The orange software changes are the one thing holding me back from buying it from them. If they have not messed around with this phone then that will make my choice easier.
I'll try demo the N80 tonight and decide which phone is best for me. If I get the N80 then it'll prob cost me £49.99 and also increase my monthly line rental by £15 and switch me onto a 18 month contract so it is possibly not worth changing for. What do you all think? Stick with what I have or not?
Yeah the rotating section is good and useful, although you can use all features without making use of it. The phone is running the same OS as the N80 and N91.
My 3250 arrived yesterday and it's pretty impressive. I am however still slightly torn between keeping this or buying the N80. I've got 10 days left to decide what I want to do.
TomTom One and the new GO range will all work ok in the Clio as they use the Sirf III chipset which has no problems with the heat reflective coating. The next generation of cam detectors will also make use of this gps chipset.
The 3250 is also running v3. Reports on some mobile foums say the 3250 is running a faster processor whereas the N80 is using the same processor as found in the 6630. Not sure if this is true or not. Regardless of those results most reviews say the N80 is very quick in everyday use.
I thought I'd check the Jbenchmark results for the 3250, N80 and the 6630 and this is what I found:

My 225 owning mate asked me to have a sprint trial with him on Saturday, me driving my 172. I was quite pleased to discover that the 172 was not that far off of his pace. We didn't hit illegal speeds and I guess he'd probably have pulled away easy if we had?
I phoned o2 again today and the person I spoke to said that the previous operator must have made up that price as he does not have any info on the system yet. He did tell me that the N80 will be available this week.
I'll see what I think of the 3250 and decide what to do from there.
They will offer you it far cheaper on upgrade if you threaten to cancel. They usually knock £100 off of the upgrade price so expect to pay £29.99 for the N80 or free if you're lucky.
N80 - £129.99
N91 - £199.99
Those were the guideline prices she said she'd been told for upgrades. New customers will no doubt get offered them for less. For the N91 she quoted June availability and the N80 late May.
I also noticed the N80 on Orange for £49.99 on any tariff. I may well phone o2 retentions tomorrow and cancel the deal they offered me in favour of buying the N80 elsewhere. o2 were asking £129.99 for the N80 on upgrade.

Oooops that should say 13th May :D
Thanks Andy. I think I'll try out the 3250 and see what I think. I keep reading that the N70 OS is very sluggish whereas the 3250 uses the newer processor as found in the latest N series phones.
That's the one thing the 3250 does not have :D
The N70 has a flash but I don't think it works very well, certainly nowhere near as well as the new breed of camera phones.
I would have waitied but I do not think I'll get offered a N80 at a cheap price, I think demand will be huge for it. I'm not prepared to pay £130 for one when I can get a free phone instead which will offer me alot of the same features and the same OS. The features it lacks I'll not really miss...
