what tools needed for removing rear hubs to fit camber shims

Caliper off and moved out of the way, Hub nut and disc off, then the stub axle bolts are a torx head, with nuts on the back. 3 are one size with 16mm nuts (I think) and the other is a 12mm nut. Undo those and the stub axle will be loose, put shim in and bolt back together....

Horseshoe goes into the end of the cams.... crank pin goes in the front of the block... other one goes on the pully end to immobilize them...

Re: 1.2 Track car Conversion Well as mentioned earlier in the thread we picked up a replacement cylinder head to go on the engine to avoid any more f*cking about - better to do it right than go on hope, I've seen/had it happen too many times in the past. After the cams wouldnt turn we...

Re: 1.2 Track car Conversion 10 of them would squeeze in and out by hand very easily like most others Ive seen before.. He means the others were sort of 'hydrolocked' and would not budge (stuck in the expanded position) unless put in a vice and squashed to f**k, even grips wouldnt budge them...

    Rob's F4R'd Dynamique Track Car

Re: 1.2 Track car Conversion Aye more than likely, absolute joke. The cam journals on the head itself are OK, but the cover is a lot worse. Wierd how the lobes look worn but the actual rockers look new when removed! All the other f*ckabouts ive come across on this site have sold us dodgy...

Re: 1.2 Track car Conversion Very much so - ive been done over dozens of times on this forum. Although this time I thought I could trust the person as it was a good friend of someone I know on here. Obviously we've lost out this time, lucky the engine wasnt too expensive... 8nm on the four...

Re: 1.2 Track car Conversion Picked up an engine on Saturday, had the sump off and one of the mains caps to check everything was all good before buying. Turned over fine by hand, decent compression, etc - all seemed good. Decided to take the rocker cover off once we got it back to re-do the...

    Riggers' Mk2 Xr2 project...

Not always... depends on the oil/coolant pathways on the engine. My oil and water was mixing slightly, but the car was still perfect. Only when I removed the head it was just two of the small pathways were leaking into each other. Headgasket looks fine on the pics above... but it could be...

    Shortshift

Linkage will be the same, it will just be the lever (and possibly a pin on the gearbox end). To remove you need to undo the linkage from the lever underneath the car, then behind the heatshields you will see the lever goes into the gear stick housing from underneath. Its held in with a big...

Anyone have a photo of how the Powerflex bush sleeves need to be tack welded?

The sleeves have moved in my pics (i.e. they are in the wrong position) The sleeves should be flush up with the inside of the wishbone, then tack welded on the outer edge. I just ran 3 x half inch welds equally spaced round the wishbone on all of them. Then the bush goes in and sits flush on...

calliper changeover date on 1.2 16v

Rob mentioned this before Liam... His was 100% ABS with 259mm vented disks, 1.2 16v... Wierd how they dont seem to fit, have you tried to put them on yet over the disk with pads in and bolted to the hub before swapping the hoses over?

Re: 1.2 Track car Conversion Could well be used to it, whenever it locks up it just seems to be the fronts too. Although another thought the rear calipers could be dodgy, they are original after all - still, I get plenty of brake dust on the back. Never really trail brake to be honest, so...

Re: 1.2 Track car Conversion Was purchased from a lad we know on here who had originally bought it off someone else on here. He was told it had been rebuilt etc, so had it fitted to his car. Only to find reverse didn't work so had it taken back out. Don't think he got as far as driving it...

Re: 1.2 Track car Conversion Well, according to the person it originally belonged to on here in the first place it was 'rebuilt' not long ago, but reverse wasn't working. Although that hardly explains f*cked syncros and components on lots of the gears!

LPG'd E30 Touring Lux Lagoon Green Daily

Yeah, just want to tidy the bits up that need doing really, servicing etc. Its a really smooth ride inside so don't want to go messing with it and make it bumpy as hell like the Beemer was lol. Ive had the dash out to replace the heater matrix, which had previously leaked from the looks of it...

Someone had been at a few of the wires on mine with crimps beforehand, so Ive re-done them with solder and heatshrink. I just cut the loom tape back upto where it joins the main loom, removed it from its huge box that's usually under the floor then put it up the side of the glovebox, next to the...

Re: 1.2 Track car Conversion Nothing extra on the rear beam on a Cup for bias, its in the master cylinder as far as I know/going from people Ive spoken to. I run a 172 cup master cylinder on a modified 172 servo on my Mk1 with direct lines to the back and its spot on :)
