Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project [Year 3 - Engine and Chassis Rebuild]

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project Going to leave it and 'age' it a bit I think, see how it looks then. Im guessing my decision will change once it looks less 'new'

    'Ageing' Stainless Steel

Yeah, it will eventually go that way I guess due to heat (my center section did)... The 2" pipe I originally had one was a used piece of pipe, so was dirty/bronze already, but the fresh 2.25" is horribly shiny, dosent look right... I wonder if i blast it for a while with the gas torch it might...

    'Ageing' Stainless Steel

Everyone knows how stainless steel goes bronze-ish colored over time with heat and being exposed, right? Is there any way I can gain this 'finish' quickly, as im hating the shiny/clean finish of the stainless at the moment. Gas torch to get it upto a high temp?! Anyone know how I can 'age' it...

Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project [Year 3 - Engine and Chassis Rebuild]

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project Its never ending! Yeah axle is fine it seems. Not going to bother buying a new disc, considering they have not even done 8k! The bearings done the same, lasted 8 trackdays, suppose something had to give

Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project [Year 3 - Engine and Chassis Rebuild]

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project Well, driving along earlier, heard a few wierd noises (Originally thought exhaust had come loose)...was like a 'ping' noise, like something was catching. Anyway, come to drive it back home and could feel the rear end twitching, felt as though it was braking...

    Riggers' Track Fiesta ZS...

Weather it be 101 or 105, do I care, no. There you go then, they were moaning about 108bhp or thereabouts being low and the rollers under-reading in the thread they had on ZSOC? LOLz, thats the correct power for minor bolt on mods, how they can expect to make more....that just shows what they...

    Riggers' Track Fiesta ZS...

People on ZSOC think that an exhaust and filter add 30bhp....so thats explains alot ;) Everyone on there from a car with 105bhp standard, making 125bhp with just an exhaust bolted on and a K&N brap filter, without it even being mapped, is just clearly not possible. Hence why Awesome(fail)GTI...

    Riggers' Track Fiesta ZS...

Whatever it makes, we all know its the 'true' power of it, considering 1*2's make correct power time and time again there. I.e. the best ones running 168-170bhp from a 172, and ~175bhp from a 182.........so under-reading isn't an issue, just an excuse for not getting the power you actually...

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project Backbox was welded back up again, sealed now. Il make sure not to cut the side off it again, took quite some time to weld up with it being stainless and thin, and having no gas left to use the Tig welder...anyway, all sorted :) Flexi Joint added to the...
