Renault changed the design of the crank/tdc sensor a while ago apparently its £50-60 for the sensor and new bit of loom to go with it iirc. Unsure if it can be bought from a factors, may be renault only (or scrap yard)

1.8 16v...standard valver :) has coilovers/exhaust/spare wheels and tons of spares with it too!

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project mine first happened a week or so ago.....went out morning after and it fired up....was fine for a week until yesterday when it happened again....got it going after a few hours, then it happened again..... got it towed home, pushed it onto drive, turned key...

mine did this when I had a nackered track rod end and it was toe'ing in by a country mile

or a leaking gasket on either part of the inlet manifold faulty throttle body could also be the problem

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project argh wtf really, wont start again. Exact same as last time, primes, cranks then dosent run. So the question is.......What would stop the fuel pump from running whilst cranking, even though it primes OK every single time...?

1 = flywheel end 4 = cambelt end you are correct in saying cylinder 1 is number 1 on the coilpack, cylinder 2 is 2 on the coilpack iirc.. unsure on the exact firing order it fires in though....

tighten them all in that order above to 20 newton meters then tighten them a further 165 degrees in the same order
