I recently discovered in the parts stash a set of brand new pistons (with rings!), liners and gudgeon pins, and some big ends and mains too and I fancied a bit of engine tinkering so I pulled down the 9 engine. I was amazed how good it was considering, the crank is in fab condition.
Humped it...
The F1 team are sytaying for the forseeable future - good news.
Not liking the factory cutbacks or the model reduction though, and not looking good for the RS range is it :(
Mid-to-high 20's if its still low miles and good nick.
Mine is just over 80k but in excellent nick, with some nice OEM+ mods and a fresh coat of paint, i'd put it at £20k, maybe £22k with both sets of wheels and belts done.
The RS Clio is following the same path as the R5GTT. Currently in the cheap-and-plentiful stage, like the five was 2 decades ago.
Give it 20 years and minters will be worth quite a bit because of the attrition rate thinning the ranks. Parts will go up in price when OE stuff runs short.
They...
The last couple of times driving the Vee I have noticed a bit of a crankcase smell hanging around, and then on my last drive a wisp of smoke out the sidepods, so I thought it best to investigate. Took all the trim off over the engine, then the inlet manifold.
Had to take the drivers seat out...
No worries, I actually stumbled on a Renault 21 Manual brake servo last week, snapped it up and the 197 brake master is a straight fit...which is nice haha!
As far as I recall the bidder was UK based, or, his IP address was at least.
These was a Cat S LY Megane 225 went for close to a grand the other week too, that went to Belgium though.
No idea, i'd assume the box was toast though after an impact like that, would have smashed the shaft back into the diff. If I could have got it for less than the resale value of the lump I might have give it a shot.
Some stuff on Copart lately is mental, I almost bought a Cat B Ultima Evo the...
Around £800 hammer plus fees and VAT so over a grand and then transport costs. Conversely I saw a Cat B 250 Megane go for £150 the other week,
A Cat B shell can only be bought by someone with a Cat B license and a certificate of destruction for the shell must be provided in 30 days.
Blimey, that was quite a read from the start to end...what a journey! Great thread! I found the thread from researching the compbrake brake setup you didn't get along with. I've been looking at one to use on my project as an option, along with a servo conversion and a few variations of both. OE...
Mad isn't it, basically they just hacked a shell apart and welded some stuff in. Badly.
They took a standard Mk2 shell, whacked it on a jig and plasma cut half of it away. You can see on mine on the front end where they cut the front slam about to fit the bigger rad, they didnt even tidy the...
She understands it from her own house yeah :P i'm getting all of this done before she moves in and puts the brakes on haha.
To be fair she did question the bucket seats and 2 sets of wheels in my bedroom cupboard but I cleared her a drawer for some weekend stuff and gave her a slot for her...
I built myself a huge garage after the big clearout, so big in fact I was sure i'd have all the space i'd ever need.
So anyway, it's full now....
and i've built extra storage under the floor in my living room, with access trapdoors. I mean, wasted space otherwise right?
I have a little experience - non trader just in it for s***s and giggles and i've been up to 14 cars owned at once, though that was a few years back. I have settled down to 5 keepers and one or two in and out ad-hoc now. I can also keep everything at home, so I don't pay for storage.
First off...
Thanks - worked hard for it, waited for over ten years to build it (Time, money, kids arrived, breakup, yada yada) and then took me another three to get it to the operational state its in now with a bunch of hard work and support from some amazing mates. Of course, there's a build thread lol...
Gravitex but probably for the wrong reasons.
Gravitex is cheaper (but still an excellent quality product)
It's also spray-on giving a nicer and thicker finish (see earlier pics in thread), IIRC the Bilt stuff is brush on. I am fortunate to have a very hefty 250L compressor though so I get...
I retrieved some of the treasures I have stashed away in the loft over the years this weekend, it was to check I had what I thought I had....turns out I had more than I remember lol
I found a new headlight backing mount online (still looking for the other side), so I dug out my new lights...
