Making a hole in bulkhead to engine bay

Any idea where they might be? I had a good look but couldn’t see anything obvious.

A still from the morning (think the lense cap wasn't properly on my GoPro). Did like the noise that the Clio made.

Making a hole in bulkhead to engine bay

I want to run a battery isolator on the dash board so need to run some wires from the engine bay to the inside. I’m already using the hole by the bonnet release for my external radiator fan switch (which appears to be the first place most suggest plus I don’t think it’s big enough). Before I...

Was a good morning out on track, hope I didn’t get in too many people’s way! Had to leave at lunch as have friends coming over soon for dinner. Next year I’ll plan to be there all day and for the evening.

Sat looking at the A55 (the hill down to St Asaph is circled) from the garden to see if I can spot any of you lot on the way….bit of a stretch I know.

Need to go past Bangor to get there anyway, hoping I don’t go through a tank and a 25ltr Jerry can in half a day on track to need topping up mid session!

All done and ready for tomorrow. Let’s hope the Tesco fuel station in Bangor has fuel as the half tank that is currently in it won’t last. Everything just about fits in the boot. Hoping for sunny weather so I can go topless GoPro fitted this time with a tether! Not falling for that again

    The PH1 172 Appreciation Thread.

I think they are a similar price from memory. I know I paid £1150-ish for a set of BC’s on my Z3 fully fitted and set up and it was a similar price for the B14’s from the same garage.

    The PH1 172 Appreciation Thread.

I’ve got Bilstein B14’s on mine. They are good and do the job well for what I use my car for. But if I were to do it again I’d go for BC Racing coil overs. Had them on my old Ph1 and just had a set fitted to my Z3 and they just feel a lot better.

Yes and no. It’s a nice road and it used to be a 60mph limit. But it’s very biker heavy at times and there are sheep that wonder on the top of the hill and into the road. But it’s a better drive than going though Coedpoeth if you want to do a nice route. Does that make sense?! If you have the...

If I’ve got your map right you are heading over the Horse Shoe Pass at Llangollen (again a 40mph zone which can have cameras on) and into Ruthin. The Nant Y Garth into Ruthin is very good. But continue to Denbigh and head onto the A453 through Groes to Blychau (start of this will be an average...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Small progress on this today. Wrapped some of the wires up for the injectors to tidy it up a bit. This was because I had to move them when fitting the ITBs so more of the wire was outside that little casing. Also wrapped the wires for my radiator fan switch too. Just neatens it up a bit Made...

The 'I work in I.T' thread

Ops testing is fun though….haha. Or what I’ve seen is people do code, get it reviewed, I’ve deployed it to a test environment and a smoke test, doesn’t work then I debug it to an error where it would never have compiled so how that dev decided “yep that will do” without even running their code...

I’ve also go a passenger side drive shaft that came out of my Ph1 172 you are welcome to have. It might have a small knick in the CV gaiter that I glued up to get it to pass an MoT test so it might have some wear in the CV joint but might be a good back up? I can’t remember why I replaced it...

    GoPro Mount

Pricey but amazing, will need to also get a phone specific cradle to screw to this which they also do https://www.brodit.co.uk/brodit/vehicles/renault/clio-ii I've got one on my E34, the girlfriend has one in her Focus and I had one in my old Octavia and they are perfect. Securing car cover

Same, I have been using a broom to wrap the clips around and push that under the car to get them to the other side. And when I have been doing them up recently the only way to get them proper tight is to lie on the floor and pull the strap at sull stretch under the car, which again is a pain if...

    GoPro Mount

Dont forget some tracks will want a secodary tether for the camera. I was caught out on this at Angelsey last time out so have bought soem metal cable things that loop around the bolt for the camera to mount and then around the view mirror.

    Securing car cover

Similar issues with the car cover I used when it gets windy. They have three straps that are behind the front wheels, middle and in front of the rear wheels so the bonnet and boot are a bit loose. I ended up running a ratchet strap over the bonnet of the car to in front of the front wheels and...

    Battery Isolator Wiring

I want to install a battery isolator switch to the Clio so I can easily disconnect it for storage and also for track safety. I have had a look and there are some wiring diagrams that make no sense - some say to the negative other say to the positive terminal and I hate wiring (electricty is...

    Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

It’s currently forecast to be sunny all day so I’m making the most of being on holiday and going to wash, polish and wax the Z3. The joys of having no neighbours no one can judge me for always washing cars which they did where I used to live. Plus no one will know if I use a hose pipe if we...

    Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

I was a bit disappointed with BMW when I bought my brand new M140i. I refused to do the midnight thing as it was the 1st September so they did a little gathering for the new registrations sales at midnight which sounded the worst thing ever. So I picked it up in the morning and it wasn’t in...

    Resurrecting a Clio 172 ph1 stood for 3 years 60k milage

It’s a car that can be worth money if time and effort is put into it. I think the general consensus is that the Ph1 is going to be a good investment. I think I spent about £1500 putting mine back in a drivable condition when I bought it back in 2020 and that was cambelt, dephaser, all new brakes...
