Remove it, its caused me no probs. And its called an acoustic valve ;) Just remember to tape up the electrical connector with electrical tape to stop s**t getting onto contacts and tie it up out of the way. Also block off the vacuum pipe with a screw or similar (just slightly bigger than pipe)...
