Dell Laptop, Whats these ports for ?

I have recently purchased the laptop below.

And was wandering if anyone knew what a SATA usb port is ?
I have one on the side of my laptop and it looks like another usb port but the top of it is slightly different :S

I can't get onto photobucket to host pics, sorry :(

And what the firewire port is for ?

thats a pretty mean laptop !

In what way exactly lol ?

Its got a base processor and 667mhz ram ? its not exactly top of the range (no offence D1CKY)

On a side note, you should have got the 9 Cell battery and the 802.11 b/g/n mini card.

Yeah, bit ghey. I got the real one, with the nVidia graphics, BD-RE, 320GB drive, 1GB FCM, 5520 Mobile Broadband, 4965AGN WiFi, both the 6-cell and 9-cell batteries, 4GB RAM, 2.6GHz Processor and the 1920x1200 screen.

:)

And proper support. Allegedly.

Aint Blue Ray though :(

It's not eSATA. The port you refer to is actually a power socket for the Dell external drives:

http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd800/sm_en/pinouts.htm#1004737

But the photo you posted is indeed an eSATA adapter. But that's not on the Dell Studio 15.

Sorry boys.
If only i could have taken a pic of it and hosted it :(

It would have made it clearer.

So whats this port for then ?

Just Dell stuff ?

P.s i tried to post this at 10am but the forum was down for maintenance :(

I have a D830 just now, hopefully changing to a E6500, but that means my laptop wont work on all the D-ports we have around my company :( I have to get an E-port for it !

Anyway, the 9 Cell battery give it over 5 hours of actual usage time, and by that I mean wifi/bluetooth on doing intensive tasks with the screen at full brightness...

Its deffinatly worth it over the 6 cell. The wifi I recommended just adds 'n' and makes it more future proof.

Ok that clears that one up mate.

I suppose if i need a 9 cell battery sometime down line i'll buy one.

Anyone any ideas where ?

Ebay ?

Or dell ?

Yea.. awesome idea.

I was close to looking at a E4200 or a E4300 to replace my D420, but.. now Apple look like they're releasing some new ones, I'm going to wait for their announcement first ;)
