Honda Civic 2.2 CDTI Type S

I don't think anything i have done, apart from the Manifold was expensive. Just servicing with good quality parts and the rear brakes. Every car needs maintenance, the stereo is just a luxury, especially as im going to Edinburgh this week and its a good 6+ hours away. Doing things on the cheap...

Honda Civic 2.2 CDTI Type S

Long morning and afternoon sadly no pictures as I was busy working away. Carried out the full service so air, fuel, oil, oil filter, gearbox oil, pollen filter, wiper blades with all genuine parts. I would love to meet the cretin that changed the last fuel filter as it was so tight, I had to...

I thought they were fantastic at first, but as i listened more and more i think i have changed my mind.

    RaceChip vs Custom ECU remap.

K-tec is far from me, but i have always wanted to check it out. How far is Chris at EFI from you or Engine Dynamics. Andy at ED mapped my 182 with 197 cams and it was lovely.

    The New Phone Thread

@YorkshireKyle Can i ask why you went for an S9 when the S10 is just around the corner? I personally can't wait to see what Samsung reveal in 12 days time. Hopefully the foldable phone will make its debut.

    Recommend me some Headphones

I have a set of QC35s that are like new that i might be selling. Thinking about upgrading to the Sony WH-1000XM3 Got a set of Gear Icon X that i haven't even tried lol, could be handy for gym.

FWD sucks, so here’s a RWD project (MX-5 NC)

Awesome, i haven't seen the Cosworth kit before. How come you decided on charger over turbo? Pure cost or fitting etc?

    1.5 dci turbo

I'm sure they are able to be reprogrammed, something you would have to confirm with them. Why don't you go somewhere like Celtic tuning?

Honda Civic 2.2 CDTI Type S

Haha that would be my normal procedure, spend a load of money on a car then sell it and loose all the money lol. I try not to think about what it owes and if it didn't need the manifold i would of been alright because its just service and brakes. I'm only changing the stereo as i hate not...

Honda Civic 2.2 CDTI Type S

My day has just improved! I took a chance and spoke to Cox Motor Parts and gave them the part number, Wayne was able to locate the fascia for me! I will have one on Tuesday! It's expensive at £134, but i will be much happier with a genuine Honda one. @Danith can you let me know what else i need...

Honda Civic 2.2 CDTI Type S

@Danith @Djw John Confirmed it was the heat shield. Had a look underneath and it was hanging on the exhaust. Managed to attach it again so hopefully it will last for a bit longer and i can always remove/replace at a later date. I have put the rear door cards back in after satisfying myself that...

    RaceChip vs Custom ECU remap.

Yer i guess you are right, i still want to find out more on the race chip side.

    RaceChip vs Custom ECU remap.

This video is pretty good. Turns out it connects to the fuel rail and the boost pressure sensor so it probably does control boost.

    RaceChip vs Custom ECU remap.

OK so looking at it a little bit more, the module plugs into the wiring loom. So basically where you would have sensors mainly fuel ones I'm assuming, connected to the car it connects to the module and then into the car. From what I can find it does control the fueling from there but as you said...

    RaceChip vs Custom ECU remap.

To be honest I don't know if it loads the map or not, we could do with an independent test by a tuner to see what it really does. I don't think it just ups the fuel or tricks the car to thinking it's cooler then it is to over fuel tho. I think it's better than that. I'll have to try and do some...

    RaceChip vs Custom ECU remap.

My understanding is that racechip put r&d into the maps for each car just like revo would do. Then once they have the map sorted they load it onto the chip and sell it. You then just plug it into obd and then I guess it loads it's map or it runs the map off the chip not sure on that. It seems...

    RaceChip vs Custom ECU remap.

I understand what you are saying and I agree, but i don't think the racechip is that bad compared to these tuning boxes and s**t you get on eBay.

    RaceChip vs Custom ECU remap.

It comes down to how much you want to spend. The fuel pumps on the DCi are pretty shocking anyways. I would go for the race chip personally on this car. If you get the higher end one you can reprogram it and use it on another car or just sell it on. Any cheap remap is just going to be a flash...

    New car(s) dilemma...

Well Honda paint isn't the best so if it hasn't been painted then it's not that surprising especially on that colour of car.

Looks pretty clean tbh, compared to others i have seen. EDIT: i was only going by the picture you posted and the level of rust.

    New car(s) dilemma...

The VTS is around 170BHP i think and weight around 1100KG. So pretty quickly and they handle really well. You can increase the power with not too much work. I would either get something french or a Civic/Mx5

EP3 would be the best one to get, but prices are going up. My mates supercharged one was a weapon and mainly used as a track car.

Honda Civic 2.2 CDTI Type S

Just spent another £230 on genuine parts. Service kit - Oil filter, Oil, Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Pollen Filter, Sump Washer, Oil Filter Removal Tool, 3 Litres MTF Fluid, Wipers and a funnel lol. That should give me enough to do over the weekend as well as rear brakes, sort the exhaust noise...
