Did you powder coat it yourself then? I agree the finish is good but the first beam I got powder coated rusted after 3 months.
I don’t think many commercial companies like to faff about treating the rust prior to application. So ultimately they just powder coat over rusty steel and you’re back...
I had the missus with me so was on my best behaviour. But yes, the car was really lovely to drive. The amount of people that waved to me and commented on it was weird too. I think it’s the colour
Drive out across the North Yorkshire moors today. Car was faultless and lovely to drive. The BG is feral compared to this. All the hard work certainly paid off.
My tyre guy came down with Covid so I couldn’t switch the wheels over. So instead I whipped the wheels off the BG to try the 195/45/16’s. So much better to drive than the 205/45/16 tyres imho so that’s the route I’m going to take.
Gave under the bonnet a good clean then put the bonnet cover...
A couple of annoying jobs today after the MOT last week.
first one was to change the NSF driveshaft after one of our techies spotted a tiny leak when checking the car over on a ramp.
This was a refurbished one from Shaftec who kindly sent me another one out under warranty. I did think at the...
I bought one of these from Renault for the BG - https://renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/parts/cooling-heating-parts/renault-clio-expansion-bottle-mk2/ Paid £55 for it after discount. Old cap doesn't fit.
Then bought another for my RB but from Ebay -...
No mechanical updates other than to say the guy who bought my Racecar has broken it already 😂 and my BG daily is still going strong after 5 years of all season ownership.
She's been a cow at times, especially in the early days when i didn't have a clue on how to sort her out, but she's been...
Has anybody ever ordered a NSF driveshaft from an aftermarket supplier with that gearbox guide/bracket (circled in red) included?
I've fitted 2 Shaftec derivatives to my 182 and the NSF didn't come with that bracket. I must have man handled and distorted the rubber boot trying to put the old...
Picked up the Cup alloys from Romax, great guys and really quick turnaround.
The small Renault badges had seen better days so set about tidying those up.
Bought some Jenolite Primer & Chrome spray paint and although not perfect, turned out ok.
Drying times say around a couple of hours but...
Dropped her off for her MOT re-test this morning. Got a call an hour later all passed no advisories. Nice Birthday present, but still peeved with myself for not switching those handbrake cables and checking the high level brake light.
Anyway, now we can start to move onto the next phase and...
The Epoxy Mastic phase will be the worse bit. I was covered in it and high as a kite for a week 😂 Lovely when it dries though, you’ll be able to go underwater with it.
I’d fill the small claims forms out just for giggles, watch him squirm a bit. And he’ll probably brick it when he gets the email - https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money
A BMW shop assistant once held me up on the A66 one morning. I was a bit peed off as I had a meeting that morning...
You’ll have more chance finding hens teeth than getting a working steering angle sensor.
Seems like you’re prepared to stick with the car and not go for a refund. Again there’s no guarantee you’ll get a better car if you do get a refund unless you buy one from an honourable club member on here...
MOT day yesterday and of course it failed due to my own stupidity 🤬
Basically because of my insistence that my RB should be as OEM as possible, I declined to change the handbrake cables. I wouldn’t care I’d already bought 2 new ones from Borg & Beck but felt the originals were in decent nick...
:ROFLMAO:
Yes perfect when you got it there.
But this way there's no getting up early, lugging trailers around, taxing and insuring SUV's. Drive & Play!
And the verdict?
Edit - ignore as comments aboved appeared before mine 😄
I'll be watching these upgrades closely though as i think once the RB is on the road, the old BG needs upgrading for road/track use.
Yeah I agree. I completely restored mine keeping the original parts and replacing those that couldn’t be saved with genuine parts. Switching the Turini’s it came with for standard 182 wheels. Even has the original number plates 😊
Lately I’ve noticed a lot of Silver 182s on the groups in the hands of new owners. Paying pretty strong money for them as well. I love that colour, very underrated imho, but they’ve always been a lot cheaper, up until now it seems.
It would also appear Trophy owners are cashing in as well...
Not fully up to speed with Phase 1 prices as i have Mk2 182's. Doesn't sound that cheap to me tbh. No MOT, does it say what it failed on? Depending how anal you are, you can end up throwing thousands at these cars if they're poorly maintained - ask me how i know haha.
Then there's the...
