Thanks, Hoping it is nothing too major so will be having the 6.5 inch speaker out and checking all connections. May swap left and right speakers over too to see if it is the speaker or not. Cant do it till saturday and its already bugging me. Hate these dark nights.....

    Speaker Problem

I have MB Quart QM 216.81 speakers in the front and today teh left 6.5 inch driver seems to have stopped working. All I got is movement and a crap noise from bass when the volume is turned up. Seperate tweeter is fine. As is drivers side driver and tweeter. Speakers are run off a 4 ch Denon...

    Valver rear wheel bearings

Rear disks come off OK, Think I had to move the caliper obviously to allow the disk to come off, then bearings are inside the disk/hub as one unit. Wasnt difficult. Replaced with new disks and bearing were pushed in using a manual press but it will obviously be hearder to remove and replace...

    Bleeding the power steering fluid

Dont think you are supposed to blee dthe fluid unless you have air in, and Haynes manual mentions something about turning the steering left to right and back to do something with this. Someone one here recommended using steering fluid conditioner/stop leak stuff to get rid of noise. Think...

    16v clio kinocking noise puzzled

You say you have replaced bearings all round. Take it you mean wheel bearings as when my front passenger side bearing went it made a noise like this at aboout 60-70.

    Conversion Question’s

Think best brake mod is to replace the caliper, as standard ones arent the best. Anyone know of a better caliper to use and still keep OE size disks. Not sure if Tarox do them ???

    Brake qu.

I find the rear brakes tend to lock on some times so I get a nice clunk or noise now and then when the car has been left standing in wet or cold conditions. Dont know if the caliper pistons arent working properly.

    Potenza RE 720

Trouble is you cannot get S02s anymore now the S03 is out. I had to buy two individually from seperate dealers to get them at all to replace two S03s. Now running S03 on front and S02 on back. As to how good they are. Think the S02 is better, shame you cant get them here anymore. I even...

    Conversion Question’s

Tarox will do some bigger ones, probably as part of a big disk kit conversion. Depends on how much you want to outlay. Think someone on here was offering brembo big disk conversion quite cheap. Would probably be cheaper than Tarox. Depends if you ever want to go back to smaller wheels, if...

Wot 16v pads do i get

Tarox are good and I would recommend them but also heard good things about Pagid. Pagid do do some more expensive ones which are the ones you were probably thinking about, as on KTECs website. Unless they are teh same and heavily marked up :0) Not sure about EBC, only heard bad things about...

    wet seat belts help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of mine was soaked when I went a bit mad with the autoglym interior cleaner one day. They seem to take ages to dry.

    Conversion Question’s

Yeah got these front and back. Took a while to bed in but are great disks considering I dont have ABS. Remember that changing rears will require new wheel bearings. Most people dont bother uprating the rear disks but I did.

    Potenza RE 720

Think BenR rates them. Ive used Bridgestone SO3s which are good and not much dearer. Think paid 48 quid each in 195/50/15 and fronts lasted 2 years, rears have been put on front and sourced 2 SO2s for the rear.

FAO: anyone running BMC cda on 16v

Will be the CDA on its own, then you have to get an adaptor (KTEC maybe) and piece of silicone hose with right angle of bend. Should still come in at under 200 quid all in. Viper is 250 ish.

FAO: anyone running BMC cda on 16v

Rear of CDA has pipe that cam sipplied pointing downwards and then curved at the front, pointing forwards. Its been run like that since and does not need to go all the way to the bumper to get air in there. May run a longer piece from front bumper to the back of CDA when I get time but it is...

FAO: anyone running BMC cda on 16v

Seems you have to get all the bits individually as there isnt really a proper designed sealed IK for the valver or Willy. I believe KTEC are making adaptors at about 50 quid for the throttle body. You would have to check with them. Part number reference for the correct BMC CDA is 70-150 to...

FAO: anyone running BMC cda on 16v

Much better than the K&N that was originally on the car. Paid just under 200 quid and that included SFS silicone hose and an adaptor to fit throttle body. Guys I bought it off did the project for me on drawings I made of teh throttle body. Whatever sealed kit you go for, you are gonna need...

    tyres & PSI

Tyres should be between 29 and 32 psi. Harder for motorways and higher speed driving and dependent on load. That is on the standard 185/55/15 profile. Again its personal preference. I run 195/50/15 and did run at 32 but find 31 better. May try dropping it to 30 to see how that is.

    Willy Conversion!!

1800 seems a hell of a lot. Just get the engine, gearbox if you want but Id rather use the rest of any money you have spending on new cambelt, water pump etc and maybe chip and cams rather than interior which isnt that much better than the 16v. Do you really need to pay loads for blue dials...

    PRIMA OR KTEC

Visited Primia, stupidly to find out what their spoilers for 16v looked like so that I could get one for when car went in to bodyshop. Only to be told they do not keep any stock in their unit. They have to get them from their warehouse. Could not even see the spoiler so didnt do business...

    Induction Kit For a Valver

My car came with a K&N fitted. Nice noise but crap as all it does is suck in hot air. Fitted a BMC CDA closed induction kit (filter surrounded by carbon fibre) and this is much better.

    Williams Engine For Sale

Thought Id post this here as may be looked at before For Sale forum. Been searching for a F7R bottom end to add on to my head. Thought I had found one until one breaker explained he was actually offering a F7P bottom end and I knew nothing by suggesting the F7R could be fitted, contrary to...

    KENT CAMS.... How much

Renault Clio/Megane 1.8 16v RN1601K(B) 1 £659.00 Renault Clio/Megane 2.0 16v RN2001K(B) 1 £659.00 According to Larkspeed website. So 16v is a different cam to Williams. Hopefully seller on ebay will be able to tell you model of cam and you can check against Kent Cams website to...

    KENT CAMS.... How much

If you do a search on google I am sure you will find the cost. Sure the pulleys on their own are worth over 200 quid. Then cams and lifters, think this is classed a cam kit and probably worth about 600-700. Again google search would confirm. Only worry is the chap selling says fits 16v or...

    KENT CAMS.... How much

Must be the ones on ebay. Best ask Bondy as I think he sells cams etc cheap. Guessing near 100 quid each for the pulleys at normal prices. God knows what for the cams and followers/lifters.

    When to change oil etc

If you use the voucher out the paper for National Tyres you get semi synthetic Duckhams and filter done for 15 quid. Not worth topping up at 5 quid a litre or doing it yourself at this price. Tend to get mine done every 4 - 6k.

    Gearbox Oil

Redline is a good brand of oils from the USA. Demon Tweeks sell them. Their website is pretty informative and if you do a search, you find recommendations from several car clubs etc.

    Gearbox Oil

Gearbox oil is allegedly not a service item. Dont think Haynes manual says anything about changing it. I changed mine for Redline which has improved things at 76k. Anything to try and prolong the life of the box.
