    Gearbox + clutch change

Is that price for them to supply and fit or just to fit? What's wrong with your current clutch and gearbox?

Clio 200 - burning engine oil FAST

Either leaking or burning it, either way it needs looking at. 4l in 5k is massive! My old 197 used less than a litre in 12k

    Smart home devices

British Gas are releasing more products in the HIVE range later this year. Lighting, sockets, motion sensors and window/door sensors. They'll all integrate with the HIVE thermostat and you can configure macros, so you can have lights that turn on/off with motion sensors, turn the heating on...

    Catastrophic failure

If you're in a rush then a second hand engine is the way to go. Rebuilding it to a good standard is not something you'll do in a day, swapping the engine out is. Also, if you're having to ask how to take the head off, do you really have the knowledge/expertise to be doing the job? Having the...

Cheapest way to lower the front?

Just the front? That's a bad idea. If lowering then lower th rear too.

    Apple TV 4

Depends. I used to have ATV3, but sold it after buying Samsung smart TV as it has apps that I can download for everything and more than the ATV3 had. I really can't see the need for these anymore now unless you have a none smart TV.

    The 10000th Lowering Springs Question..

I waited until 21 to get anything with power. Up to then I had Corsa's, Pug 309, 4 x Mini's etc. Just after my 21st Birthday I went and bought a Fiat Punto GT and only paid £300 a year to insure it. This was back in 2001 though. It really is worth waiting

I've never understood that question. If it felt any different then you shouldn't have done it in the first place IMO.

    Phones.. Talk to me

For what reason would you need to jailbreak? My 3GS and 4S were jailbroken for a while, then I realised I didn't need it to be jailbroken for anything I was using it for.

Will Megane 250 rods fit F4R?

If the bore is the same, then the stroke won't have changed, if it did then it would no longer be 1998cc

How long does timing belt last on 172?

Ahh - there's your issue then! Nothing you can do other than do it right this time and move on. By do it right, i mean with the correct Renault tools, in the correct way. If you don't at best it'll be down on power, at worst those valves will be saying 'hi' to the pistons again!
  17. Chrisgti6

How long does timing belt last on 172?

The fact that the valves have hit the pistons and bent. It sounds a lot like the work they did a month ago has caused or at leaset been a factor in the engine destroying itself - therefore they should have been the first peope spoken to. Who did the belt change?
  18. Chrisgti6

How long does timing belt last on 172?

If you have a receipt for the work i'd have taken it back the the garage that did it originally. Problem is, now you've taken the engine out you don't have a leg to stand on.

    Ph1 172 Coolant Leak

That's only £200 short of full timing belt and aux belt job. Your friend was ripped off!

    Ph1 172 Coolant Leak

Who quoted you £400, or was that a guess?
  21. Chrisgti6

How long does timing belt last on 172?

So - the belt was changed on your original engine, then a month later the vavles went for a date with the pistons? I'm guessing poor workmanship on the original belt change. Who changed it originally? Was it whilst you owned the car?

You are going to get 2 types of reply in this thread. They will consist off: 45% - Get an iPhone, they are best. Android is crap 55% - Get a Samsung, they are best. iOS is crap. You'll struggle to get an unbiased view IMO.

    182 brake caliper colour?

Originally they would be unfinished, so would have be silver. Few brake calipers are painted from the factory.

which rear shocks do I need?

On the rear ANY 172 or 182 shock absorber will fit. If you want to fit rear cup shocks, then buy rear cup shocks and they will bolt straight on.

Underseal, Anyone recommend anywhere in the Northwest?

Isn't this something that most bodyshops could do? Especially if they specialise in restoration work. I'd try some local bodyshops, see what they say.

    Pothole jolts

Sportline springs on OE shocks is a bad idea. Had it been just the Pro kit you'd probably have been ok. -45mm on OE shocks was never going to end well. Either upgrade the shocks, or change the springs. However if you change the shocks I think you'll still experience some harsh ride as the...

    Engine bay

I'm with Daniel on this, as long as you use common sense you'll be fine. No need to cover things up. Spray some citrus degreaser or similar on the areas you wish to clean. I would leave for a couple of minutes then aggitate with a brush of some sort. Then either rinse with a pressure washer if...
