Like said. Trace the wire and have a look for any breaks. There also notorious for lettiing in water and corroding up, but this doesnt sound like the problem your having.
Imo these things happen. I dont really think the guy who sold it to you could predicted the starter motor frying itself. But i hope you get it sorted and have some happy 172 ownership, i love mine :D
Dealer parts are expensive but at the end of the day your paying for a perfect fit and something that will last a wee bit longer than a pattern part. Ive just replaced the two handbrake cables on the cup and it took 15 minutes due to them obviasly being a perfect fit etc.
I cant see the lambda causing the cat to glow red. My bet is with beef-Mc. Coil pack is failing causing unburnt fuel going into the exhaust which then ignites when the coil pack decides to work. This would explain the "juddering". The lambda is just picking up on this and telling you that the...
Sounds like its going into limp mode. When you take it to renault they will chuck it onto the computer and that will read the fault, then you will know :)

Cable ties are no use for nothing. Jubilee them on very tight and make sure they dont come off on full lock. Jack the car up and spin the wheel to make sure it isnt fouling on anything.

Join the club mate, mine went through last year with no problems atal. This year i need a handbrake cable (both sides),windscreen and what ever else they find tbh. Just done the discs,pads, calipers, bearings and tyres and it goes in 2 months time. You will find they fall apart pretty quick...

I need a new one. Both sides for the mot. Ive tried the local parts shops and non of them can supply one. Is it a dealer only part? Rough price for both sides?
My cup vs a friends standerd mk4 gsi astra, i win on take off,straight line race and in the bends. But i would have the gsi over the cup anyday. They have a nice interior, tuning is cheap and they look awesome imo.
Im away to replace the rear discs, pads and hanbrake on the cup. Does anyone have any experiance on pattern part handbrake cables for the 172, How well do they fit?
Any info on where you bought it and prices would be great :D

Ali took me out in his z4m at the weekend and the acceleration is immense. Proper neck throwing back job. Although the cup is quick it doesnt come close.
