    Borderlands

It ticked so many potential boxes, but just ended up being boring for me. It didn't have the depth or 'RPGness' to it like the Fallout series, but was quite bland as an FPS as well. Online co-op seemed riddled with issues as well for the PC version. Probably better on the consoles though. D.

    FLOL. No, I didn't! :) D.

    Crysis Revisited

Hmmm - not sure about that. Even simple things like the ground textures are much better and sharper defined than the likes of Battlefield BC2. The latest Medal of Honour has some decent scenery too - but with Crysis, we're talking 2007 and it still outshines a lot of current stuff. The...

[PC/Xbox360/PS3] Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Official Thread

I'm probably about 51/49% in favour of rush mode, I reckon - lol. I do prefer it, but the map choice makes a massive difference to the way the round is played. Some maps just don't work properly imo in rush mode, whereas the likes of Port Valdez and Arica Harbour to name but two, are just pure...

Cool. I haven't used that yet. I will be doing from now on though. :) Cheers, D.

The lack of a decent save facility is beginning to grate on my nerves now. Pisses me off slightly when you get nailed and have to traverse 8kms or so of hostile road, just to get back to where you were. Surely there's a better way than that? :S D.

I know I sound like a broken record with this, but if anyone is remotely interested in a decent RTS and have the hardware to make it look fluffy - then buy Company of Heroes. Perfection, in World War II form.... http://store.steampowered.com/sale/holiday2010_companyofheroes D.

    Crysis Revisited

Thread revamp! Just about got a machine spec worthy of Crysis with all the bells and whistles on. Strangely, there's no default resolution choice for 1920x1200, so I'll have to look into that. Instead, I'm currently rolling slightly lower on 1680x1050 - but fcuk me! Maxed with everything set to...

Now, now sailor-boy! ;) Probably down to habit more than anything. The first game I got for the PC was Aces of the Pacific back in '92 and the flying controls defaulted to the arrow keys. Then less than a year later when the Doom demo came out, they were either the same or lads and I at uni...

You map a key to the grenade choice - mine's set to Page Dn as I'm an old skool arrow keys player - none of this AWSD key malarky! ;) When you throw a pack of C4 it sticks to whatever it hits and you can throw multiple ones onto a target. Walk away and hold down the same key (again, Page Dn for...

Anyone know the script with collapsible buildings? Being the recent UAV wh0re that I am, does the target building have a set number of hit points before collapse? Or do you have to remove sections of the building for it to structurally collapse? D.

It might be down to a better postcode as well. You lot in Scotland can appear to insure a Veyron for under a fiver anyway. ;) D.

For that money - I'd definitely get the Brothers in Arms pack instead. I played and completed all three games in the series and throught they were brilliant. :) D.

Same here. According to the stats, I'm 5% through it with about 7 hours of game time. They really have cherry-picked good features from many games. Like you mention with Farcry 2 - especially with that little warning 'radar' in the top left corner that tells you when you're near a pickup...

That King Arthur is a good Total War Medieval/Rome clone. Loads of 'backroom' options to it like providing 'ladies in waiting' for your Knights of the Round Table - lol. D.

Lol - just had a bit of a UAV killing fest on vanilla BC2. Managed a 20/3 final score with 16 of those kills being down to my UAV. Don't those guys ever look up? :S ;) D.

[PC/Xbox360/PS3] Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Official Thread

I'm convinced that players like this really have not got a clue in how to play an FPS online. The killer for me is when you're getting trounced by vehicles and people start spawning as bloody recons and medics. FFS - get the engi's out! Thankfully it doesn't happen much, but jesus, some people...

Some mad offers on Steam at the minute....

I think this is where some of the Steam offers are getting a 2nd lease of life. Most laptops can easily handle the likes of KOTOR now and they are great to play while the missus is watching Corrie/Eastenders, etc. :) D.

That's what I live for on BC2, tbh. Either going head-to-head in a tank or taking them out as an engineer. Epic game. The simple fact that the Battlefield series continues to use vehicles as a key component of the game is why it will always be better than the COD series. For me, anyway. :) D.

    GT5

Ah, thinking about it - it could be that. It's a 40" plasma I think, but I'm pretty sure its running on component connection as it doesn't have HDMI on it. Might be worth seeing it on a decent TV, eh? D.

    GT5

I'm a bit confused with GT5 visually. That above what Geddes posted looks very good indeed. But last night was my first go of GT5 on my nephew's PS3 and it looked, well, pretty crap to me. :S Granted he stuck with the snow/ice circuits - it was the Andros ones iirc, but overall I wasn't...

Picking a game for my new PC.

Yep, I'd recommend Bad Company 2 as well. Ideal for a pickup & go 30min session, or when you're ready to chuck a couple of hours into it. As Greeny says though, the price has bumped back up slightly now. :( D.
