Yep, mid 2012 were the last to allow upgrades. They were sold new until early 2018/2019 though, so not all of them will actually be that old.

Coil packs can develop cracks in them over time, but you won't notice anything until you remove it. Definitely worth replacing it if you don't know how old the current one is though.

Looks like the 8T is a slightly upgraded 8. For that price range I would also consider the Pixel 5.

Which one are you looking at? The Nord is their budget phone, but has the same processor as the new Pixel 5. I've come from an iPhone XS and not regretting it.

The 3800X is literally the same processor but will allow a slightly better overclock. I'm not sure when the new ones are out as that will bring the price of them down anyway.
