The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

@Geddes my pc was doing this a while ago, turned out to be an issue with an update somewhere along the line. I’m pretty sure it was gpu driver related.

Absolute legend getting all that work done. The world needs more people like you sir.

    All In One Computers

If it’s just basic office usage then an i3 with 8gb ram and a ssd will be plenty. They’re sticking HP Pros under our desks with the same spec and they are spot on for most things. I’m still arguing my case for a better cpu as they don’t play well with big spreadsheets.

    Beards Rb182 cup

They weren’t fitted as standard to them, good chance someone retro fitted them.

182 Cups don’t have the sill kick plates. Looks tidy

    172/182 timing tools

Personally I paid someone else to do mine, but if I was going to do it myself I’d use these https://www.renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/parts/popular-products-2/f4r-cam-belt-fitting-tool-kit/ The cheap ones are known to bend.

    What colour for these alloys?

I would get them done properly in gold

    What Clutch?

It’s not to me. There are a lot of people who still consider Chinese parts to be sub standard without realising they’re already using them though.

    What Clutch?

You’d be surprised how many of the big manufacturers use rebranded chinese parts now, albeit mostly the slave cylinders.

That looks great now. Straight out of the 90’s!

    NOVA !

Pretty sure the SRi Novas had a closer ratio box than the GSi. They went well up to a ton and then just didn’t have the gearing to do much else.

Sounds great, but as already said, the wheels are letting it down at the moment.

OEM radio retrofit - Code input not showing?

Later cars were Update list. It says which model radio it is on the front. Generally if it’s an 05/55 plate it’ll be Update list. Unfortunately I don’t know if anyone knows the change over point.

OEM radio retrofit - Code input not showing?

Did you fit the correct model head unit? A 182 can be either Tuner list or Update list.

What have you done to your car today ???

Chucked one of my old rear shocks on as one decided to die after 10k. Will have to get another set on order. They really don’t last long do they?!

    Dent/damage removal?

I’d rather do a bit of leg work than go through insurance. Any claim with your name on, regardless of fault, would put your premiums up.

    Fcuking Apple !!!!!

Android phones don’t get updates for as long as iPhones do (they didn’t the last time I checked anyway), yet Apple get slated for the software not being perfect on 3yr old phones. When the processing power is improving as much as it has been each year it’s understandable that an older model is...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

I’m guessing that’s to do with a security flaw found on Intel chips. Although I think it may only affect Linux systems? Edit - I was wrong, it’s every OS. https://www.engadget.com/2018/01/03/intel-kernel-memory-flaw/

    Alternatives to PS3

I’ve had no problems with PZero Nero’s on my 182. They grip well in all weather and seem to wear pretty well too. Someone else will come along and say they’re no good, but for everyday driving I think they’re spot on.

    Ramair filters -Any good?

I don’t see why it would be poor quality, I’ve had a few filters from them over the years and never had any problems.

    Ramair filters -Any good?

Do you mean the cone filter? If you do then I think you’ll find a lot of people use them, myself included. Decent quality for a fair price.

    Dave Baldwin's 172 racer

That’s looking good. Shame about the engine, I’m guessing the torque figure was impressive with the PMS manifold and longer trumpets on the throttle bodies?

    Fcuking Apple !!!!!

I read a similar article yesterday with a misleading title. It did say that when a new battery was fitted the phones go back to stock and run at full speed. Not a bad thing tbh, trying to make the battery last longer when it’s not working as it should.
