Good man! :D
Make sure you download the latest drivers from www.soundblaster.com m8 - the ones on the Install CD are prehistoric. You'll have to use the ones on the CD to install it first though.
There's also that X-Fi specific patch for UT2004 - make sure you get that too.... ;)

Tyson - you should be able to get it down a bit, but it's the area that kills it for us. You're probably about three miles from me as the crow flies. I'm an old fart, over 10 NCB, no points or convictions and have been driving 14 years. I'm still paying circa £750 per year on the 182.
Fecking...
It got me thinking because I'd heard that certain stock ECUs can degrade over time as well. It certainly makes sense from an IT perspective, but I didn't know if it was common on cars and their maps in particular. After all, an engine bay is hardly the most efficient of environments to have...
Slightly off topic - doc remaps 'degrade' over time? By that, do they need re-remapping say 18months/2 years down the line? Or is it a case of done once, done forever?

patty - the dust must really be caked on there?
I tried some of that Fairy Power Spray off a thread recommendation this weekend and the results were superb. Nearly 20k on these alloys too.
Might melt the pads and discs by the end of the week, mind. ;)

Yep - only the onboard 64MB X-Ram on the Fatal1ty and the Elite Pro. The other two (Platinum and Xtreme Music) don't have it.
Roy, the question you have got to ask yourself is the fact that you've forked out for a dogs danglies PC and yet you're considering sticking to onboard audio. That's...
I've only got a pair of Technics headphones! Tend not to use them that much as I sh1t myself royally when playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I was crouched behind some crates listening intently to where the Germans where walking, when unbeknown to me, Jain had been shouting me from downstairs...
Roy - I'd up the spec of the X-Fi - purely for the X-Ram alone. If you're into your games, it a bit of a compromise to ignore it....

Tbh, I don't know of anyone who has the Elite Pro? I don't use 90% of the features of the Fatal1ty, so I probably would use less on the Elite Pro. I'd be interested to know if anyone on CS has one???
The only issue with them is the masses of Creative Labs bloatware that comes with them. Just a...
Roy - just get an X-Fi Fatal1ty and be done with it. You know it makes sense..... ;)
On a serious note, as good as onboard audio sounds, it relies on codecs and thus a noticable hit on the CPU. Dedicated sound-cards relieve this load off the CPU. I noticed a considerable improvement...
Here you go, m8....

Was the benchmark for high-end PCs a couple of years back. Very good game actually. Falls into one of those annoying categories where I've played it many times but have yet to actually finish it! :)

Right chaps,
I've recently reinstalled HL2 and thought about giving CSS a bash at the same time. However, I played very little of the original CS and only managed a limited go on Team Fortress Classic, many years ago.
Basically, I'm getting owned.................. and royally. This isn't...
