172 Cup - Hilda Street, Heywood....

Spotted it a few times around there. Anyone on here? I think it's a '53 plate... D.

    F.e.a.r. - Pc

It's funny. I know of a few console owners who turn their nose-up at PCs for games - FPS games especially. Once they've tried a decent mouse & keyboard combo, they soon change their minds. Undoubtedly, there are some talented gamepad users on consoles, but they aren't a patch on a true...

Picked up Q4 yesterday guys - plays and looks shite on my default setup. Even worse than Doom 3, ironically. This will be a game that you need the best hardware for. Not Unreal 3 tech levels, but something like a 9800 Pro just doesn't cut-it. The details I had to sacrifice in order for it to...

    F.e.a.r. - Pc

Very good point, actually. I suppose the headache for most developers is that they have to cater for a million-and-one combinations of motherboards, gfx cards, chipsets, memory size and types, etc. Yet for the most part, they get away with it and games (unless we're talking BattleCruiser 3000...

I'm cautious when it comes to the whole SLi thing. We've been down that route before with the Voodoo 2 cards and it didn't take off then. Why? Because of the expense and the fact that most games had to have a specific patch written for multiple gfx card support. There are clear and obvious...

Well, I'm still chugging along nicely with an Athlon 3200+, 9800 Pro, 2x 512 Corsair and an MSI nForce2 Ultra mobo. Not the screaming piece of tech it used to be, but it's ok for now! :) In all fairness, I'm not looking at PC upgrades at least until next year. There seems to be loads of 'ifs &...

    172 Cup - centre of Ashton-under-Lyne

A Vee not practical enough? Who said anything about practical? Clearly your daughter is being very selfish about all this. Isn't their some salt-mine in Russia you can send her to or something? :clown: DOH! - you're right, I didn't spot the age bit! Insuring a Cup shouldn't be a problem for...

    172 Cup - centre of Ashton-under-Lyne

LOL with the wipers - they are one thing I don't think I could do without now. That and the xenons... I must admit, the Trophy's do look appealing. I don't mind getting the same make and model of car (I had a Sporting before the GT) but only if there is a significant difference between the...

R88* CUP - yesterday afternoon, Liverpool

Heard you before I saw you m8! :) Quite a beefy zorst on that... 172 Cup - CS sticker in the rear window, outside John Moore's Uni in Liverpool. You wouldn't have seen me - I was in a black A4 in the middle lane... D.

    172 Cup - centre of Ashton-under-Lyne

Bloody hell - you had a CD player in a Cup? Surely all that extra weight destroyed its handling? ;) Sounds like you had a decent enough car before the Cup already. I went from a Punto GT which I owned for six-and-a-half years before getting the 182. The difference was simply amazing. The GT...

    172 Cup - centre of Ashton-under-Lyne

Yep - never again with black, I think - unless a cheap, decent V6 comes along! Is your Cup standard? I was looking at a 12-month old one last year before I opted for a new 182. I really like the 'rawness' of them - not being bogged down with all fancy gadgets and stuff. What did you drive...

Should Reno have kept the same design?

I agree with you on you the Trophy power m8. Even an extra 10bhp would have been better than a normal 182... D.

    Mike T's Supercharged Vee

Mike - what kind of mpgs do you get from it when you're given it some? Single figures?? D.

    172 Cup - centre of Ashton-under-Lyne

Hi m8 :) I live just outside Bury now, but I was born & raised in Ashton and my parents still live there. I nipping down for a visit as I hadn't seen them for a few weeks... Do you live in Ashton yourself? Trust me - the black looks a whole lot better when clean! ;) D.

    Mini cooper S v valver

Agreed. With the 'charger on the MCS kicking in immediately, it gives you the sense that you're actually going quicker than you really are. To be honest, it reminds me more of a TDi drive - except the torque is more spread out through the rev-range. It gets out of breath quite easily - probably...

Should Reno have kept the same design?

True m8 - but unfortunately, it does have its obvious benefits... D.

Should Reno have kept the same design?

The more I see of the valvers and the Willys with their off-set bonnet 'bulge' - the more I think they look great. It's a shame they didn't do something similar on the 182 - after all, the engine itself is still off-set to one side. Probably some aero-dynamic or NCAP safety reasoning as to why...

    172 Cup - centre of Ashton-under-Lyne

You came down Oldham Road and I was at the lights, next to the baths. You looked at me and I let on. Didn't see a CS sticker - but your car was a damn-sight cleaner than mine! ;) This was Saturday afternoon - approx 2pm... D.

Ladies & Gentlemen may I present RENTECH Ltd..(56k beware)

Good stuff m8 - always worth hearing about people have the balls and commitment to setup their own business. Such a shame that I'm just north-east of Manchester, or else I would have happily given you my 182 for its 12k service..... D.

    182 cosmetic mods - opinions

You could also go for the awful gold badging like they do on older Lexus's and Hondas, to complete the image! I think it would 'date' the look of the car, tbh.... D.

    oil change 182

Changed mine at 6k. I'd heard that it's advisable to change your original oil early on, due to the micro fragments and shards of crap that work loose as the engine is settiling over the first couple of thousand miles. Could be an old-wives tale, but I can't see any harm changing the oil often...

Strut Braces, Are they worth it?

Probably not worth it imo for something like a 182. Try it on a sack of Play-Doh like the Punto GT and the effect is amazing. Mine handled so much better after I fitted a front brace. Roundabouts were pleasant to drive around rather than a dodgy exercise in understeer... D.
