182_cup - Id be interested in a replacement exhaust too. Not so much in terms of any power/performance gains - just purely from the acoustics alone. Given the nature of the 182 and what it represents within the market, the exhaust note of a standard car is bloody awful. Even the twin...
Lee - I wouldnt worry m8 - mine does the same. In fact, sometimes it splutters and stalls. I always let it idle for a good 20-30 seconds before setting off though.

Good thread this. :D
Given the choice, I would much prefer a cheaper/slower car & instructor combo than a much more powerful car with just myself on the track. Gimme a three-week course in a Saxo VTS avec le instructeur, rather than me on my ownsome in a Cosworth anyday...
Anyone who thinks...
Christ - no wonder our premiums are sky high for sod all. Leo, your compo claim was way low from what you were saying - and that I agree with. But others?
....£800 because someone wasnt wearing a seatbelt?
....£450 anyway (Big G) - even though you said it was only a slight pain...
Ah, I wondered why that cover had a "Sinclair Spectrum 48k POWER" sticker on it....
Oh well - the next time I hear a clatter and see bits of spinning ECU out the rear view mirror, I know its finally worked itself free. :p

Noticed it when I refilled the washer bottle today.
Leeshez - I had to hijack one of your piccies m8 - hope you dont mind!

That black curved casing (what exactly is it?) has a bracket running up to that silver screw & washer...
Nice day for it, Lee! Was it a special event today?
I bet some of those old-timers were a right handful when the track was a little wet!

Feck - this has got me worried now. Set off this afternoon and felt the clutch judder like a right mofo. I always take it easy with clutches (managed 65k on my GT!) yet my 182 hasnt even done 9k....
Whats the next stage of the Dodgy Clutch Lifespan? Should I be expecting total failure soon? :o...
Put an R32 side-by-side against any Vee and the R32 would look like a chavved-up, over-priced, overweight Golf. Ooops - was I pointing out the blatantly obvious?! ;)

I bet they dont do em in black - Sparco Blue would look sheeeeeiit on a black gold car. Were the set you got a "one-size fits all" that you trimmed to fit the Clio? How did you mount the flaps onto the bodywork - via scrws & bolts or clips?

The car is secondary - its your age and the postcode thats important. Id hazard a guess that both Griff and R-Jay live in a decent area due to their quotes?
Abridge - that seems about the going rate, in all fairness. Im around the £760 mark, aged 30, with 10 years no claims. Just live outside...
Thats what you get for having a car with a high NCAP safety rating!
It seems a little eager to have triggered the airbag at what must have been a slow(ish) speed?
Hope you get it sorted m8 - such a shame that happened to a decent looking alloy too...

Do you get a battery warning light on the dash appearing, then disappearing if you blip the accelerator, only to reappear at idle?
If so - its defo the alternator - it cant put any juice back into the battery. I had two replaced on my previous car. Check the battery with an independant garage...
Matt,
Its the pressure bit that I dont quite understand. If both turbos and superchargers are forms of forced induction against normally aspirated engines, how can they induce so much in terms of power gain with so little pressure?
Just standard atmospheric pressure is 1.0bar. How can...
One thing Ive never been able to work out (in my small, fragile mind) is why turbo cars get a significant shot of power with relatively little boost pressure?
My Punto GT only registered 1.4bar on the dash, which was about as accurate as unaccurate things can get. In fact, the last turbo car I...
