I had a similar issue, it was the sunvisors causing mine as I had removed them and screwed into the wire when putting them back in. The interior light and sun visors are on the same circuit

You need to remove it to get a good job. Its not difficult though but the clips for the sunvisors and grab handles will need replacing as you have to break them to remove them. I did mine with some fabric from Ikea

Why not remove the acoustic valve and carbon cannister? I havent done it but understand there are no negative side effects.

GSF sell all the mounts through their ebay account as I linked above. I'm still undecided about the uprated ones myself, I know they're much more expensive but they do last longer and if I'm going to keep the car it makes sense to spend the extra cash...

Hmmm just before I go to Vegas. Chances of having the money to do this are very slim but if I happen to be rich by then I'll come along.

Seems like a good deal, cheaper than the second hand cup kits that get posted on here.
