If there are any caked on parts and tar I suggest g101 to remove the grime then tardis to get rid of the larger tar spots.
After that give them a good clay, polish, then seal. My own...

I thought they were brilliant and for somebody who is new to machine polishing they were easy to work with.
I would suggest 90-100% correction once a year in summer.
If you half do it to remove some of the swirls and no deep scratches do it twice if required.
As JD said if you follow the procedures for washing without inflicting more damage your paint will survive a lot longer and not need polished...
