That's bloody awful!!!
Kick up a fuss in halfords, very politely, explain it's just wasted x amount of cans of other stuff, if you have the recipt, even better, and try to get some new cans to start again, at least the prep is done (the hard bit).
They're probably on his mate Jim's, brother's, best mate's, uncle's car at the moment.
So this post is constructive, I'd guess around 10kg for a full set of springs.
What car did you buy in the end? I remember you PM'ing me looking for one, but haven't seen what you bought. Pics and I'll tell you where to spend your dollar. First impression is try get yourself a set of recaro's, most worth while thing you could do IMO ;)
It is a ph1 he has Fubar, but he's spent a small fortune on making a track car, but never taken it on track... lol!
Then he asked why he was getting fed up with it!
Before asking/doing any more at all, get the car on track.
Running ph1 clocks is not a prob with ph2 dash though, then you need dynamic heater controls for the AC to work, as they are the same control type as the ph1, but obviously fit in the ph2 dash, then there's a wiring guide to make other features work, i.e rear window de mist, clock, etc etc etc
Ph1 172 will take - Ph1 172 box, laguna v6 box (JMS style setup), or anything like a BMC CDA on a 90 degree elbow.
The ph2 box is no only poor in comparison, but I think you'll struggle to fit it.
EDIT: You can get the v6 airbox from Wests Renault off here for not a bad price iirc.
Most say a bearing change isn't worth trying as you muller it trying to get it into the disc, so easier and more worth while to just change the whole disc.
I've read loads about this, because I'm sad.
I don't think you could do climate, well without a lot of effort, but everything else is transferable, it just involves some jiggery pokery with the wiring.
Any specific questions, ask away.
Get hold of some second hand shocks off here for pennies, and a pair of rear discs, about £90 and the cheapest damn pads you can find, rear brakes on the clio are useless anyways.
