Mike, elaborate a bit?
BTW, your name isn't in bold, very weird?
Sounds possibly java related, but I may be wrong.
I can take a look if you want?
Oh, and speakers, whenever you want mate.
Welcome mate, this place is great for information, and if you ever get stuck, just post up, as it's pretty likely someone has had the same problem before.
Where abouts in SE London did you end up?? I'm more kent, sort of, ish?
You use metal filler for wheels mate, it's a real fucker to sand back, so don't use too much, whatever you do!
It's literally a case of sanding back the wheels until they are smooth, the harshness of the paper you use...
Ok, so I haven't been into here for quite some time, as the ph1 has taken up more money in maintenance than one would expect... little bits and bobs have been done, but it's mainly been tidying, no ground breaking stuff...
What's been done since I last posted (going from oldest up to most...
Wheels, as you say, aren't ground breaking, but I think they suit the car pretty well and that sounds like a good enough price.
I was also missing the Bora project tbh.
Keep up the good work J-man
If you were local I'd give you a hand with refurbing them.
Welcome to the site mate, there's a lot more available than just a buyers guide.
The amount of money you can save on purchasing parts etc and the amount of people willing to help is unreal, hopefully everyone will help you find what you're looking for.
I'll just have a quick search for the...
I know, but then how do you avoid it looking orange peely? Or does that just dry away????
I just seem to get a much smoother finish when I go a bit thicker on the lacquer.
That's where my trouble lies tbh, I can achieve a really nice finish, but always end up with a darker colour that I hope for. Getting the glossy finish is about doing brilliant prep and getting the lacquer right.
Unfortunately I seem to hit a catch 22:
Thin layer of lacquer, colour looks...
No troubles, any problems/questions, just ask.
I'm no pro, but I've DIY'd a few sets, I just can't seem to stop the lacquer from making it look darker than it is, but that's another story.
Yeah sounds alright, although you may want a quick pass of 800 inbetween, I'd only use the 600 on the roughest bits, so 600 on the rough bits, all over with 800 (to blend the rough bits in) then 1200.
Very nice Tom, not sure if the mirrors are a bit too much, but I like it anyways. It's a lairy track scheme, never a bad thing.
Are you this painter?? If so, want to earn some money and help a "brother" out?
They can't have been brand new Daniel-san, they only made 9k!!!! Most of my miles are London commute, so there's no way I've been killiing it! Tyres were dead cheap until something came up (like the four Toyo's I picked up tonight).
As for the "I should have slowed down" suggestion I did try, I...
All depends how bad the damage is mate? Kerbed to f**k? Or perfect? Basically, you don't need to use anything below 800 if there is no damage, the grade of paper you start at just depends how bad the damage is, you could sand down 90% of the wheel just with 800, but one fucked bit, start at 240...
Still got any of those f1's? lol!!!
Shame to see that mate, I've now got two options, try to get one, without tyre, posted to NathJ in Wales who'll spray me one up to match, or paint my spare black myself, then a mobile guy will come around, spray the lip on and lacquer the b*****d.
I've just...
No need to get it back to silver in the slightest mate, if you're that worried about them coming out dark, go for a white primer, personally I'd just key them back, remove any imperfections and go with grey primer, which will soon hide any trace of the darker colour, I'd then just spray as normal.
Barum's are temp, picking up four toyo's tonight, which is why I'm so gutted as I wanted all four fitted :(
Tracking needed to be done anyways tbf (after all the balljoint/top mount issues I've had)
Decided I'm going to have the spare sprayed up for now and then source another spare.
It could be, doesn't look to have damaged the wheel, but by the time I've fecked about with it, is it worth it????
You don't still have the spare from your ph1 do you Budge?
Cheers mate, I had your bullets on and all was looking tasty, I'd even got rid of my knock, now I'll be lucky not to have killed something else suspension related!
If anyone see's a single o.z f1 come up for sale, let me know please.
Yeah I hope so Budge, was going to ask you if you still had the spare off the ph1 or if Vish had it?
I'm pretty good with a spray can, so may try it myself first, but I'll probably c**k it up... lol! Hopefully if I can just get it prep'd and sprayed black then someone else can do the green and...
