The sand paper leaves you with a smooth-ish finish, but due to it being sanded, its keyed so the paint sticks, it doesnt matter if it feels totally smooth to touch, I sanded it with what looks to be somewhere around a 500 grit, but its a guess, as its just down as "medium" on the halfords sponge...

Yes indeed that is it, and yes indeed it has a heat shield, easy to remove, twist and pull, if you twist pull, clean and re-fit, and it works for min, then you'll just need to get another, I always found when mine was fubar'd it'd still work if you took it out for a bit and cleaned it etc.

Right, I can tell you how to wire them up to get them both working, but I have no idea how to get the passenger switch on the drivers side to work aswell I'm afraid. Personally, other than ground and constant live, I use all new wiring.... Now, I'm calling pin 1, the one nearest the bottom...

Gearbox sensor dude, about 30£. If the needle itself works then that indicates its just the signal isn't being sent to the clocks.

You can use this, it has a rough outside, so you can actually sand with it until its knackard, then just wrap it in sand paper if you want to carry on using it as a flat edge: Click me!

Personally I don't find any issue with the seating, I'm 6"2. Again you can only see the meets sections if you are a full member I'm afraid.

There are a couple of things to help the driving position, you can take the rubber spacer type things out of the standard seat subframes, lowering the seating position, or a set of Recaro's/any other nice buckets will see you happy. I only say Recaro's as they come standard in the Trophy...
