The race battery is w**k on mine so I was going to connect jump leads to it from the Octavias battery and do it that way? Also crank it in short bursts or a single 30s burst?
Not necessarily a re-build for mine but the cams and lifters have been changed along with all the engine ancillaries so the engine is dry of oil. So how do I go about starting it back up for the first time? The obvious issue is oil getting around the engine quick enough. I was thinking of...
Checked the valve clearances on my Toyota 2ZZ tonight and the results below.
Intake range - 0.08-0.18mm
Results - 0.13 - 0.13 - 0.10 - 0.10
Exhaust range - 0.22-0.32mm
Results - 0.16 - 0.20 - 0.25 - 0.25
So should I re-shim the 2 out of spec exhaust valves or just leave them be?
Mmm, not so sure given they are claiming only a 3% increase is handling. Wear looks much better though and that's where I was least impressed as I got less than 5k miles out of a full rotated set on the road.
Anyone tried them yet? Will be buying a set in the coming weeks for the MR2 for road and wets.
According to their press release they've taken onboard the criticism of wear and handling...

Sorry to hear this mate. Mine went in a similar scenario. Looks like a valve seat as mine was. Difference with mine being the valve seats weren't checked after one of the pulleys gave in causing bent valves.
Caught it pretty easily on the straights and under braking, just the fast sweeping corners where he made the time up.
Yeah been looking at the Kaaz 2 way but as it's used to commute to and from track it maybe to aggressive?
What sort of price are they out of interest? 2ZZ engine/C60 box.
Think set up would be were it could be changed the most given mine is set up very safe with soft springs and Arbs set full soft and its also toeing in lots at the rear, so set up more towards understeer.
Once back together I'm going to set the toe parallel at the rear to see how it feels.
What...
Just doing the normal Friday go faster bits search and started thinking about aftermarket diffs for the MR2 as I'm looking to enter the Javelin sprint series next year. Another reason is that this year at CSF19 I had a really good battle with a Javelin sprint series Clio 200 that was running a...
Awesome time for its power to weight mate, great driving as well. You're not leaving much, if anything out there. Ditching the passenger and better track rubber and you'd match the Teg's times I reckon. Cant beat these low powered N/A's tearing up track days. Bet the track day hero's in their...
My advise buy one already built. With £5k you'll get a decent track spec 197 with all the bits you've mentioned and more.
Regarding slicks, if you're new to track then probably best to go with a semi slick tyre to learn a bit of craft as a full slick will break away much more quickly leaving...
Not sure manufacturers are trying to 'out harden' each other. Surly it's just a case of not getting the damper/spring rates right for the UK roads.
Are they even long term testing these cars on shitty UK roads before release? Or maybe the majority are tested on the Continent with smooth roads...
I'd like Xenons, heated seats with lumbar and the HK system but for my budget I may struggle. See what's about just after Christmas when I can take advantage of someones Christmas overspending 😉
There's an M sport performance pack one here a stones throw from my house

The MPS I had was a bit turd. It was FWD until it detected slip, but it was slow so by the time it pulled its finger and sent it backwards it just upset the car Think it's called Haldex or was similar to...
What type of AWD system is the Xdrive? Is it predominately RWD until it detects slip then sends up to 50% of the torque to the front or is it a proper AWD system like the scoobys and evos?
Thanks for the replies. The 330d sounds ideal. I see even the m sports doesn't come with high spec as standard like heated seats and pro nav etc but its a small price to pay for the package you get. I like the luxury sport spec as well as long as it had the m sport seats. Presume these will go...
@Simon_16v how are you getting on with this fella? Very tempted by a F30 330D at the price they have come down to recently, albeit the 2wd version. What MPG are you seeing? Any faults etc? The F30 328i is also at a good place in the market but being a 4 banger just think the 6 pot derv is a...
