No its purely a weekend fun car .
It has a racing clutch , full vibratechnics race mounts , race suspension , 8 POT calipers , and totally stripped .
The brakes are too good for traffic , I went to work in it one day !
It's all done!
Got a picture of the vibratechnics mount fitted (can't see the other one but it is fitted!)
Had to replace the brake fluid cap, for some reason, after bleeding the brakes, the warning light was on.
Then we got the seats in, as I don't intend to put the car back to standard...
Thanks
Just got car back - they raised it by 5mm and pushed engine over on its mounts - that seems to have cured it!
Now I just need to keep the shiny side up!
Well picked these up off here on Friday night
Set of vibratechnics, they want a little clean but I had some on the 172 and it just felt so much more positive on and off the throttle and when changing gears getting ready for cornering.
So this week these will be fitted along with a powerflex...
You need to do a video to show the 1st gear issue dan. Lol! Not bad eh considering we only had sockets, a hammer, 2 screwdrivers, a blow torch and the snap-on impact gun to strip it down to that level!
Well today has been rather eventful even though I got up late after nights.
So first off I checked the camber was set correctly before collecting NorthloopCup and loading up the trophy van with tracking sticks and tooling an setting off to the workshop.
The camber has been set to -2 degrees...
...and if you did just loosening off the mounts and pushing the motor over a bit to give more room should solve it. Uprated mounts (Ktec/Vibratechnics) - or new oem mounts if the old ones are properly shagged - will also stop the engine moving around as much so that will help as well.
If...
...hand turns - which was the driveshaft binding and I was only on Konis/Sportlines which would be a max of 40mm lower. I changed to Ktec/Vibratechnics engine mounts and probably moved the engine over slightly to the passenger side during installation and this solved the issue. Friend of mine...
Bit off topic but, when changing the dog bone mount is it best to support gearbox or is it just simpley unbolt then replace bushes, bolt back on? thanks in advance

Hi Cub, thanks for the reply. We did try putting the car in gear with the handbrake on and making it move but it still wasn't obvious which one was broken. When you're driving it sounds as if it's the offside that's gone but not 100%. I think the best thing to do is just take them out and have a...
Best way to check them is put the handbrake on, then keep finding the biting point and making the car strain slightly against the brake, without moving.
If the knocking occurs, keep doing it and get a friend to listen to see which side / where it is occurring. Also, pop the bonnet and get the...
...bushes, which you'll see underneath, powerflex ones are ~ £40
The upper gearbox mount is under the battery, support the gearbox from below and it's pretty simple to change from above with the battery removed, think this is why mine's knocking!! I'm goimng with Vibratechnics ones, same as KTR
Went down all by myself today :(
Was a bit faffy and not the most successful of days but its still closer to being finished than it was this morning! So started off with loosening the manifold as we'd forgotten to put the dogbone mount on. So chucked that on and refitted the manifold. So now...
...day on the bank holiday Friday. Had a chat about cars and what a tw*t my ex-boss is and grabbed parcel.
The parcel was a brand new Vibratechnics upper engine mount. I ordered it as I had gotted tired one night and totally forgot the old OEM mount was bolted in and jacked the engine up...

If I were to do this job again, and I probably will as I am planning on headwork and cams eventually, I would get the proper tools to do it.
I also replaced the damaged top mount with a Vibratechnics one.
I've got to say, there is a fair bit more stuff to remove to do this job than...
If it's just the ally base plate it's just updated not solid, change it for a standard one if you want, I loved the vibratechnics mounts when I had my 182.
Ahh ok, just to undo them. Ok tah.
When I am less tired I'll have anther go. I always find things are 10x harder when yer tired.
Just bought a vibratechnics upper mount to replace the one I just broke...may as well eh? :)
